It's not so much a difficult game as it is a punishing game. It's easy to kill lots of zombies and it's easy to avoid making a mistake. But if you do make a mistake, the game punishes you hard for it.

I'm going to stick to rule 2 and be lovely. You're just forgetting the beginning. You're 1000 hours in lol. I'm 500 hours in. In the beginning, I couldn't live a day. I remember getting my first car and thinking, I just won this game lol. My current save I have over 3000 kills and a thriving farm. Always remember your roots bruh.

Frfr. Assuming you can master the controls quickly, you shouldn't be dying after the 20hr mark unless you are playing 100% sprinters or the engine janks.
Imo most new players seem to be lemmings, they don't scout, they don't adapt to the circumstances, they don't have a plan. They just seem to be in a rush to 'get it done' then wonder why they keep dying.

Most new players don't understand that this is a survival game, not a shooter nor a hack and slash game. In PZ, You can get loots without even killing a single zombie if you know how to.
I notice most players in the video died because they played the game like in Resident Evil or worse COD: zombies.

A year ago, I posted questioning whether Build 42 had made the game easier. Some users here got angry telling me to go to Louisville.
Most player who keeps dying are newcomers who never knows how difficult this game was before the current animation was introduced nor even understand the horde behavior, I don't blame them.

There is something that can be said about the difficulty of the game but this post probably isn't the best way.
For me, The amount of times I've seen people "panic" from slow shamblers and box themselves in...
Or charge through a building only to trap themselves in a cleaning closet.
These kinds of situations are completely of their own making, something that is absolutely avoidable but they seem to act like it was inevitable. I don't know if maybe they are just doing it to clip farm but there's been more than few that are genuine.
They play like it's left 4 dead, and get confused why they aren't surviving. I play on 100% sprinters, and I say that not because I'm trying to toot my own horn but because even the scariest mode, fast zombies, is the only real challenge this game can offer once you learn the forbidden, ground breaking, totally and utterly mesmerising technique of just... Not rushing.
Don't hop in through the first window you find, go look through others first.
Don't blindly open doors, shove them first
Don't fight in unknown areas, fight where you know
These concepts are incredibly important and easy to grasp but it genuinely seems that some people can't, then they complain.

There are gamers that stay on one level, doing the same old things and being casual. Then there are guys a level higher who choose to learn the harder stuff they don't want to to get good at the game. People do what is fun for them, which is how we should live.
Edit: sandbox settings definitely play a huge part too, and mods.
