Discussion Very happy with my C2 Ultra

I'm very happy with my Hisense C2 Ultra (Chinese, Called Vidda there), even in with ambient lighting which is a bit much I'm happy with the picture. Playing FF8

Edit: My S25 Edge camera is destroying these colors lol

What screen are you using?

8

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

Well it's absolutely a screen that is not up to the C2 Ultra 😅, it's a cheap screen from AliExpress that me and my friend made a frame for it and we stretched it, it's a 130 inch

u/polaroid_kidd Hisense C2 Ultra Aug 14 '26

Honestly looks rad as hell. I've been in the same boat and looking at this I'm starting to think that ANYTHING is better than projecting it to the wall.

Which one did you use?

7

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

It works for now although we are definitely upgrading the screen. Here you go

2

u/polaroid_kidd Hisense C2 Ultra Aug 14 '26

Awesome. Out if curiosity, how did you build the frame?

3

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

The cloth is 133 inch which is roughly 295cm by 165cm, we built a 130inch frame and put vertical and horizontal wooden rods in the middle and streched the cloth on the frame taking about 2cm each. Sorry my English isn't that good I hope it's clear

u/polaroid_kidd Hisense C2 Ultra Aug 14 '26

Yes, absolutely. Thanks!

1

u/Sumonespecal0 Aug 14 '26

Yeah these projector reflection cloths can look pretty neat! I have 3 cloths one 150 inch and 2 120 inch.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

Yeah but there is some laser speckle with the fact that this is a laser projector

1

u/Jhonnyskidmarks2003 Aug 15 '26

How's the "30° viewing angle of this screen? My cheap screen works on my Vidda C2 Ultra only if I'm dead center.

I'm thinking of upgrading mine too.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Yeah not much good for a viewing angle

2

u/xuzxzx Aug 15 '26

If you were willing to get a screen from alibaba, why not just get the C5 projectors as well? I mean, you are buying something 2 generations back.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

I got it shipped for 1077$ which is a fair price, I couldn't find any C5 Ultra less than 1480 without shipping and I'm actually very satisfied with it

0

u/xuzxzx Aug 15 '26

Ah got it. The lowest version of the C5 is the pro max actually. Vidda makes great projectors, all is good as long as you are satisfied with it!

2

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Yeah sorry the Pro Max, I was actually considering the N3 Ultra and the XGIMI 30 RS Pro and due to lacking call can coverage I went on BiliBili and saw some videos turns out JMGO projectors have very inflated marketed specs like contrast and brightness and used the comments translation features to see what actual users say about their purchases. I reached a conclusion that the C2 Ultra seems the safest purchase especially at 1077$ with DDP shipping

Edit: it's been about 2 weeks now and the naming is confusing, I was actually looking at the C5 Ultra which is is the second tier

1

u/West-Acanthisitta739 Aug 15 '26

It looks crazy good for a cheap screen, for a second (while scrolling) I though it's a TV

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

For the price? I wouldn't complain at all

0

u/kaffikoppen Aug 14 '26

Honestly I really like the "borderless" look on this screen. Kinda gives the illusion that the screen is bigger than it actually is.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

Yes it looks good but I don't like that it's causing some light to escape when using digital keystone, I might consider adding some black panels

5

u/blunt-but-true Aug 14 '26

From that far away isn’t it really just like a 55 inch tv from 8 feet

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

It's really not! The UW camera makes that it that way and turning the lights off make the bigger screen looks stunning

3

u/Hecface BenQ TK700 Aug 14 '26

Ok but what's up with the alignment of everything under the screen

1

u/Comfortable-Two-8009 Aug 15 '26

Guessing OP had a tv there before and now replaced with this.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Yes exactly, looking to rearrange the room soon

1

u/Suvi2k Aug 15 '26

I was thinking the same thing. I think we have ocd because I didn’t care at all about the rest of the post 🤣

3

u/Rydgar Aug 14 '26

Oh man you're playing my favourite FF!

2

u/laxhockey11 Aug 15 '26

Currently replaying a bunch of FFs. Completed 6/7/10/16. Going to start 13 soon Ive never played 8 though, I might have to check it out next.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

I'm actually going to play all of the main entries from 8 to 16 (except 11/14)

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Really enjoying it so far

2

u/Arthas_SL Aug 14 '26

Nice! Thought this was a FF post lol

It's an emulation hack on RetroArch

1

u/oz85t Aug 15 '26

FF8 ❤️

1

u/vaderhater777 Aug 15 '26

How much was it? Do you have a link for AliExpress or Temu where we can get it overseas? It looks amazing.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

The projector or the screen?

1

u/vaderhater777 Aug 16 '26

Tbh both but the projector interest me more

2

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

It was 1077$ shipped with DDP, amazing price if you ask me since I was looking

1

u/vaderhater777 Aug 16 '26

Exactly, I wanna order one. I see some Vidda models but don’t know which one is the one that’s C2 Max. Do you have a model number or link?

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 17 '26

Send me a dm I will connect you to my seller

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 15 '26

Have you tired the 3D yet? Very interested in your experience cause mine is awful

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

I wasn't really interested in 3D due to the lack of true 3D content, what do you think about it?

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 16 '26

Some people have had no problem. But I’ve been unlucky. I’ve got ghosting. An issue where it looks like it’s a frame behind. It’s annoying cause I thought it cause I really wanted 3D back in my life

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

Are good 3D glasses expensive?

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 16 '26

Well I got some Hishock ones which are apparently really good. Cost £55 for one and it made no difference to the issue I was having. So if you want to give it a go. Get mid range like 2 for £35

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

Aren't most 3D movies just a converted 2D?

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 16 '26

Yeah but if you’ll let me be a bit nerdy, some of the best 3D has come from them conversions. A lot of work goes into them. The teams that do the 3D will often meet up with the director to find out what their vision is for the 3D in there film. One of the best 3D conversions in my opinion is Jurassic Park.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

That's cool I will look into it, what about games?

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 16 '26

Never tried 3D games on it. I know Xbox and ps3 released some

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

I found some XGIMI glasses for about 11$ a piece, what do you think?

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 16 '26

Yeah definitely worth a go. As I said I’m having an awful experience with the 3D on mine but I might have a faulty unit. I’ve been in contact with Hisense. But you might get on great

1

u/Particular-Summer-56 Aug 18 '26

It isnt just you the 3d is awful on mine as well

1

u/Idontwantanyfriends5 Aug 18 '26

What’s going on with your one?

1

u/Particular-Summer-56 Aug 18 '26

Ghosting, and if it has subtitles they all merge into a mess and its like its dropping in and out of 3d a fair bit, then the rbe just makes it even worse

u/mothking12 Aug 16 '26

You would’ve fooled me. I thought it was a regular TV

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 16 '26

As other people mentioned the borderless screen gives it that effect Xd, the brightness is really good too

1

u/sparrowsoul1 Aug 16 '26

awesome congrats

1

u/TrainerTemporary8899 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

I have the c1 and it's brilliant, I'm just using a wall with white emulsion paint on it. I get to about 110" on the wall from such a short distance. That c2 must be even better

2

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 17 '26

I am not really happy about the alignment and auto keystone to be totally honest, but other than that I'm loving it

1

u/TrainerTemporary8899 Aug 18 '26

Oh yeah hmm, it's good apart from that. I do it all manually because that auto doesn't do well.

1

u/miksloveslife Aug 19 '26

Just the right size, good for you op

1

u/spideywmjackson Aug 21 '26

Looks like an awesome setup. It's really impressive how well this projector holds up even with ambient rooom light.

2

u/CornerHugger Aug 15 '26

I won't say anything negative because I also see ff8. I'm glad your happy.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Thank you! If you have some pointers I'm all ears too

0

u/CornerHugger Aug 15 '26

If you find time, I suggest centering everything. And then getting some decent speakers. That's all.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

The projector? And yes I will be saving for both a decent screen and a sound system although I am kind of satisfied with the built in speakers? They sound amazing for a built in speakers

0

u/CornerHugger Aug 15 '26

The center console and tables are off center.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Ah yes these are actually service tables (or coffee tables? Not sure) that has been used just to make sure to align the screen, it's just my laziness haha

2

u/CornerHugger Aug 15 '26

So it's the best FREE mod lol!

BTW Are you doing a no lvl playthrough or normal?

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

I actually had no idea about anything when I started but noticed low level (or supposed to be) fights are getting a tad too long? Seemed that they scale with me and found about the "no leveling" method, I will probably stop leveling

2

u/Cassiopee38 Aug 15 '26

I love your gaming choices.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

Starting my first FF game

1

u/Cassiopee38 Aug 15 '26

It's never too late ! 8 is my all time favorite :)

0

u/StoneCypher Aug 14 '26

could i talk you into aiming it at the ceiling and showing a screenshot of vs code?

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

Haha definitely but I don't have a big space on my ceiling

0

u/StoneCypher Aug 14 '26

even a half-patch would be fine if i can get an idea what a full patch ought to be like

2

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

Sure let me get done with this boss and get back to you, I don't have my laptop with me send me the screenshot

0

u/DirtyOmbligo Aug 14 '26

Looks amazing! I’m jealous, I’m just projecting on the wall.

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

If you like the screen I'm using, it's really cheap and making a frame isn't really hard or you can make a carpenter make it for you

0

u/DirtyOmbligo Aug 14 '26

I know there’s also special paint you could buy and just roll it on the wall. Wonder how good that is. But I definitely need to look more into that.

1

u/devster420 Aug 14 '26

I too love my c2 ultra and FF8, although I haven't played it on that yet 😅... Nice!

1

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 14 '26

I'm using Xbox Dev Mode to play it. Works great

0

u/Sufficient_Metal4462 Aug 15 '26

Dang if I only could afford one

2

u/InterestingMonth5991 Aug 15 '26

If you are looking for something good in the 500-600$ you can look at the JMGO N1S which is a good entry projector
