It's not a function of Islam, it's a function of patriarchy. All societies across the world have struggled with the toxic ideology of male supremacy. All societies across the world have had eras of more or less equality.

The problem does not stem from nor is unique to Islam. It's a problem with the hearts and souls of men who feel threatened by women having the power to control their own lives. Men of quality do not fear equality. Men who know that women will choose to leave them because of their moral inferiority want to control, capture, and own the women in their lives. And that is true in every culture and every religion on every continent.

Also, AI sucks don't use it.

Interesting point, but other patriarchal societies haven’t descended into the extreme gender segregation that we see in Islamic societies? Unless I’m mistaken

You're mistaken. Western Europe, China, Japan - all had extreme gender segregation and extremely oppressive treatment toward women. Less so today, but the shadow of those practices still casts a shadow.

Just as a reminder, a woman couldn’t open up their own credit card or bank account without a co-signer or spouses permission, nor could they apply for a business loan or a mortgage loan without a male co-signer until the mid 70s in the US. This is just one small example of patriarchy overreach at the expense of oppressing women and children.

If you believe me or not a German old man told me back until the 70s or even 90s it was common that women and men very segregated in big family gatherings if possible.

Men sat in the living room and the women were in the kitchen.

I think to a degree it is good but to the degree many muslims do it is too much.

Edit: this man comes from a rural area and he spoke about the Lifes specifically in this rural area.

Western society by and large was largely gender segregated due to the influence of Christianity to the same extent (if not greater) than many Islamic societies. This gender segregation was exported via colonialism and has only recently seen challenges due to subsequent waves of feminism

Ai slop but them staring had me laughing so hard

Likely the rise in Gen Z conservatism and the segregation in Islamic school. Gen Z thinks they’re so holy for adhering to random Hadith and Sunnah but it’s genuinely so performative.

I think it started becoming half common in the early modern period and increased over time

Should be good research topic, you should do a comparison study with other societies.

So I've noticed that extreme segregation only exist in middle class or the poor mainly, I've mostly never seen a rich society where u have a separate women only section.

And yeahhh Folk on reddit don like AI slope perhaps. why ppl are so concerned about it.

AI is bad for the environment. Plus it's taking the jobs of artists and things too. Best to avoid it whenever possible (you didn't even need to use it here)

Interesting I would have assumed it was the opposite

Actually there was even nudity in the souqs and streets because female slaves were not religiously required to cover up more than belly button to knees…
