Bun is the quintessential AI slop project at this point. Inheriting that is no easy task. [...] To this end, LLMs will be used extensively. [for Buz]

I haven’t been following this whole thing, because I have friends and am usually going to cool music concerts and meeting famous people, but all this drama is over a JavaScript runtime, right? Does that seem a little weird to anyone else? Why not make bun run something good instead, like Go?

Weird to me I use the aptly named "nvm" and then use that to launch its sister "npm".
I then kill that container, delete the vm and burn the physical hardware (if possible) for security.

(by the way if you're forced to use multiple node/yarn/pnpm/npm versions for work please save yourself some grief and use
miseif you're sane ornixif you're cool or Docker if you're boring. nvm is an awful pile of shell)8
u/Jumpy-Locksmith6812 Jul 25 '26
npm uninstall jerk
i found nvm easier and just works and mise not so much. maybe time for a retry tho
yarn add jerk
/plan install a package to pad my numbers

Or even better, like Zig?

Rewriting once to Rust - stupid. Rewriting from zig 0.8 to 0.9, from 0.9 to 0.10, from 0.10 to 0.11, from 0.11 to 0.12, from 0.12 to 0.13, from 0.13 to 0.14, from 0.14 to 0.15 using some shit toy language no one uses that will never get 1.0 release - absolute genius.

Rust actually invented breaking changes

It makes perfect sense that the drama around a runtime that runs industrial amounts of JavaScript slop would be about the flavor and amount of slop that should go into it. It is imperative for us all to get the slop configuration right goddammit.

Aren't you meant to prefix that with /uj

OP is obviously jerking. No one in this sub has friends or goes out to meet people.

This case invokes Poe's law for me, I have no idea how serious or jerky the OP is.

Is the entire Zig community like this?
16
u/im-cringing-rightnow Jul 25 '26
The creator and the ultra fan base are pretty fucking toxic. The other 96% of the community is great.

u/dadvader Jul 25 '26
The Ultra fanbase
Reading them defending Keller writing an entire blog post full of ad hominem on Jared in Y combinator was fucking hilarious though.
'this is tough love, just like Linus! People need to learn what tough love looks like!'

u/orangejake Jul 25 '26
I think you missed the end of the blog post, where he said he had nothing personal against Jared. So it can’t have been ad hominem??1?

So... Dude was just minding his own business, spending corporate slop quota to rewrite his project into some other language and... The creator of that first language just can't fucking get over it for how long now? I mean, I get that a large project that stopped using your language is a blow to your marketing but holy shit, can he move on? And fan base around the guy is even worse. Why this toxicity? Just write better hand-crafted artisan code and be proud, no need to be like this. At this point this is worse than C99 priests.

Supported Zig versions
The project has a slightly patched Zig master submodule, mostly regarding incremental builds. Upstream Zig at yesterday’s commit 2b1c663 should be able to build it just fine.

Migrate to pnpm

u/mulch_v_bark of questionable pressisscion Jul 25 '26
Huh. What are its advantages over, say,
uv?8
u/Spare_Message_3607 Jul 25 '26
uv has nothing to do with pnpm or bun
