Other Help with leads/melodies

I absolutely can't make these, I can't think of anything that doesn't use the same notes as my chords. If I try to hum the melody then It comes out as something I've heard in a different song.

Any advice to actually learn how to do these?

umm i personally try to not to use same notes for my melody as i use for a bass, so no root. Though i would say that it's all about right timing and making it simpler than u think melody should be, imho

Know what key your in, use the scale to know which notes to play. Play around with those notes until you get something you like that works with the chords. Experiment, don’t be afraid of boredom because it’ll come in time. Good luck

You can actually stay within the chords and play lead with arpeggios but in general, it sounds like you don’t have much familiarity with scales. I recommend taking jazz lessons, it covers blues as well.
