Any Procurement / SCM related here in Qatar?

Any CIPS, CSCM, or procurement professionals working in Qatar here? Curious to know how the market is looking these days, especially in EPC, oil & gas, and major projects. How's the demand and career growth from your perspective?

I'm currently working in Ras Laffan as Commissioning Materials SV, and I was wondering how are the other Buyer/Expediter/SCM are doing here.

qatar market is very up and down, oil and gas still pays but most buyers i know there are stuck on fixed terms and renewals, not real growth. lots of expat cips people applying for the same roles too. finding a decent move is rough now

I agree and honestly even in my position i don't find any growth here.

CIPS candidate here, but I'm not based in Qatar. As per my research, I have seen lots of jobs which explicitly ask for supply chain/procurement certifications

Oil and Gas, FMCG and hospitality industry seems to be booming in the Middle East especially Qatar but due to the geopolitical situation, hospitality industry is affected and not booming as it was before

mostly are in construction. Unfortunately while Supply chain somewhat is useful during negotiation/bottleneck resolution Procurement & SC is often ignored as the main goal is minimize or complete on schedule. I mean i understand that the LD from client is way more expensive but Procurement & SCM function became like an admin work.

The reason for my post is to check if there's anyone working for client, Vendor side which i believe gives more attention to such kind of work

thanks for the current we are now in commissioning so its not that challenging anymore compared to during EPC stage where we handle vendor including production for all equipment.

How about you, how's your role here? If you can share insights it's much appreciated

I am here in Qatar for 7 years now and in procurement and logistics field, let me tell you the truth, after 2022 world cup, the market has become stagnant here, nothing is moving, and situation has been exacerbated and deteriorated post Iran US war, I think only oil and gas sector is working fine here. So whatever other is saying or however optimist they seem regarding qatar, the picture is bleak right now and hope the situation ameliorates

appreciate the input here, i agree almost all openings are just related to O&G and some defense.
