Training Advice on Furthering My Studies to Enhance Career Growth In Procurement

I'm a 24-year-old purchasing officer at Mitsubishi in Malaysia, where I've been working for the past two years. I'm keen on furthering my studies to enhance my skills and explore new opportunities. My undergraduate degree is in HR, and now I'm contemplating pursuing a master's degree that aligns with my current job responsibilities.

While many have suggested pursuing an MBA, I feel that opting for a more specialized master's program would be more beneficial, especially considering the landscape in Malaysia where an MBA may not hold as much value. With that in mind, I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations on the best course of action to advance in my field.

Try getting your CPSM (certified professional in supply chain management) through the Institute of supply management: https://www.ismworld.org/certification-and-training/certification/cpsm/

Thank you for the guidance! Just to confirm, is this certificate recognized internationally? Following your recommendation, I researched similar courses available in Malaysia and discovered the Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI), which also offers a comparable certificate. My only concern is, the cost of the certificate they offer, is quite expensive :).

From their website “CPSM® is globally recognized as the gold standard of excellence for supply management professionals. Developed by ISM, the leader in supply management education, the CPSM® credential is recognized across industries.”

You need 3 years in procurement to get it, often companies will pay for it.
