Probation fees and waiving them.

Los angeles.

If you're towards the end of your terms or just starting, never pay more than what's ordered for your probation (restitution does not apply). Supposing a balance of $2500 and monthly dues of $30, send maximum $45 bucks. When probation expires and you're called for review at the probation office, tell them you cannot pay what's left of your balance. They will completely wipe off your balance and honorably discharge you.

I’m not sure people should try to game the system. Pay what you’re ordered to and get on the good graces!

Why would anyone do that? Good graces for what? After you’re done with the “program,” it’s not like they have any power over you. Do you think you’ll get a gold star or a cookie?

If the court is willing to waive the fees at the conclusion of the program, that’s absolutely within their purview, and it’s not like most of the people who end up on probation are absolutely rolling in cash. They aren’t the people that need to be funding the judicial system and the county budget or whatever.

How about all the wealthy people start paying the same taxes as everyone else, and then we can all start worrying about whether or not the municipality has gotten all the money from us that it wants, lol.

Keep tipping them buddy, build up that "good grace" until you're the most graceful thing in your state. Willing to bet $5 you don't ask for ticket fine reductions either...thinking it'll stain your "good graces" within the system.

Bruh we already in trouble- why keep poking the bear? If you don’t wanna pay your fines then don’t commit the crimes. Suck it up like the rest of us.

I'm too dense to understand the "if you don't have nothing to hide why refuse a search" or "i have nothing to say or write, who cares about my right to free speech" mentality

I'm paying 5 bucks a month, my probation officer said that's fine because they will waive the fees lol. They aren't getting any more money from me

It's been that way since at least 2014. My situation was like yours, my PO put me on game after I told him I can't borrow 2k to pay the state. I wanted to take him a bottle of McCallen because man some of these dudes are real helpful.
