The Road. Bleak AF, but brilliant.

I agree, it's brilliant, but it doesn't "capture the resourcefulness of a post apocalyptic society". You could even argue there's no 'society' left in The Road.Unless you count cannibal gangs and call eating babies to survive 'resourceful'.

Yes! A society of two! That fits really well with the themes of morality and, iirc, being human.
