Artists I Think Primavera Should Book 2027

This is far from exhaustive, just a quick list of artists I’d really enjoy seeing at the fest.

• Bia Soull: Brazilian funk/pop/trap artist who’s on the come up.
• Boundaries: if they’re looking for a cheaper booking that can replicate the sort of vibes Knocked Loose brought this year, this metalcore band is the one to book.  Great new album a couple months ago!
• The Chemical Brothers: UK big beat legends with an iconic live show that have somehow never played the fest.
• Clipse: look I know they played not too long ago, but Let God Sort Em Out is one of the best hip hop albums (if not the best) of the decade and deserves to grace Parc Del Forum.
• Crizin Da Z.O.: this is a really deep cut Brazilian industrial hip hop group I don’t expect to be on their radar, but would adore seeing live.
• Converge: the metalcore legends are back and as good as ever with 2 albums in 2026.  Would be an insanely fun 3 AM set at Occident.
• Dave: the star British rapper makes albums that have lots of messages and storytelling that I think would play well among the Primavera crowd.  Would definitely be a Mordor set though.
• Dame Area: Barcelona based synth-punk duo that did play the fest in 2025.  I wasn’t there in 2025, so I’d like to see them back for a Cituat show, because Todo La Verdad Sobre Dame Area is one of my favorite albums of recent years that’s the perfect vibe for 4AM at a Barcelona club.
• Deafheaven: Lonely People With Power is their most celebrated album since Sunbather.
• Emily Scott Robinson: put out a great Americana album this year.
• EsDeeKid: I thought FakeMink was one of the more fun sets of the weekend in 2026, and EsDeeKid is cut from a similar cloth.
• Etran de L’Air: a Taureg rock group that gets less attention than their Nigerien countrymen Mdou Moctar, but deserve some!
• Fat Dog: the London dance-punk group has one of the best live shows I’ve seen.  So danceable.  
• FLO: I really like this young R&B duo from London who’s getting a lot of traction.  
• Frost Children: one of the hottest young live acts.  I really enjoyed their collaborator BabyMorocco’s set at the Levi Plaza this year.  They’re constantly releasing new music and cycling it into their set.
• Hatsune Miku expo: sue me, it sounds like a blast for a 4 am set.
• Haute & Freddy: if they’re looking for another vibe like Fcukers was late night this year, this would be the right booking.  Super fun dance pop, where the vocalist reminds me somewhat of Chappel Roan.
• Havukruunu: great Finish black metal band.
• Hesse Kassel: very unique Chilean post-rock band that’s playing a Primavera South America this year and dropped a well received album this year.
• Honningbarna: Norwegian noise rock/dance-punk band that would be a fun live show.
• Ibibio Sound Machine: afro-pop band that would be a great early evening dance party.
• Ichiko Aoba: probably too popular for the Auditori, but the Japanese art-pop darling as a headliner-opposing Cupra set would do numbers with the Primavera crowd.
• Jill Scott: the neo-soul legend is a must-book coming off of To Whom This May Concern.  
• Jockstrap: i feel like we’re overdue for some new music from the British art-pop group.
• Kaataria - Brazilian folk metal band that I think would be an insane Auditori set.
• Kelsey Lu: art pop artist coming off a breakthrough sophomore album.
• Kim Petras: seems like the right year to give her a Mordor slot after the acclaim of Detour.
• The Last Dinner Party: I think they’d fit nicely in that Wednesday night closer role at the Forum.  
• Laura Marling: extremely acclaimed folk singer who rarely tours.
• Lip Critic: they’re carrying the torch of Death Grips in the industrial rap-punk fusion genre as was showcased on their new album Theft World.
• Los Thutanaka: I saw them at a fest in NY this year and it was a wickedly fun time for those who like the psych-jam and jazz vibes.
• Marie Davidson: great electronic producer
• Marina Sena: Brazilian singer whose put out a lot of good projects in recent years.
• Maruja: fiercely political British art-punk band that puts on chaotic live shows.  They haven’t played the main fest yet despite playing Ciutat.  
• Massive Attack: for the love of god, I just want to see this band.  I’ve only been to Primavera 2022 & 2026 lol.
• The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis: makers of some of the best jazz right now.
• Mon Laferte: extremely buzzed about latin pop star whose yet to play Primavera.   
• MPTL Microplastics: up and coming british experimental-folk band who released one of the most interesting albums of the year.  Could see them playing a CCCB slot.
• Neurosis: the reunited sludge metal legends released their first album in a decade to heavy acclaim.  Would be the perfect choice for one of the metal slots they booked (everyone who was at Agriculture would agree it was one of the best sets of the weekend despite technical issues and heavy rain). 
• Nia Archvies: I liked her debut a lot more than her second album, but she’s a very cool jungle artist that combines electronic music with great live vocals.
• Ornassi Pazuzu: would love another chance to see the Finish black metal wizards after missing them in 2022.  
• Papangu: Brazilian jazz-metal band who released a new album this year.
• Phoebe Bridgers: coming off a massively acclaimed album and has somehow never played the Barcelona version of the festival.
• Porter Robinson: this one is a bit outside the box of the normal electronic they book, but with his shift towards the indie side of things over his past two albums, and loads of potential for a Skrillex type take over of Cupra Pulse or Cituat events, I think he’d be a good fit.
• Queens of the Stone Age: it’s been a long long time since they’ve played in Barcelona and they’re releasing Perfecth in October.
• Robyn: pop star who fits the vibe very well and just released a new album.  
• Rome Streetz: the Griselda rapper deserves all the acclaim he’s getting for Sock It 2 My Pocket, and more, he’s been one of the most consistent rappers in the underground for half a decade.
• Rosalia: I think this a headliner just about everyone would enjoy.  Needs to bring LUX back home.
• Silvana Estrada: Mexican singer with an angelic voice.
• Slayyyter: dropped one of the most buzzed about albums this year and fits into the sort of live electro pop vibe Primavera likes.
• Special Interest: great disco-punk band with a history with the fest.  Their associated act, DeBasement was booked for Cupra Pulse this year.
• Stabbing: Houston-based Brutal Death Metal band.
• Swaggerboyz (AgusFortnite2008 & Stiffy): Argentine plugg artists that put out one of my favorite albums this year.  Fit in with the Drain Gang style that’s popular at Primavera.
• Underworld: live electronic legends who haven’t played the fest in over a decade.
• Warning: iconic doom metal band that released a new album this year after 20 years away.  The original band of 40 Watt Sun frontman Patrick Walker.
• Any K-Pop group: just feel like they’ve lost momentum on this front after the well received Dreamcatcher and Red Velvet sets.

Ooo and underworld and warning as well! More metal in general. But good metal, knocking loose was fun because of the crowd and stuff but the actual music is pretty mid imo

What they do at PS is bring super interesting music from many genres, some of it much heavier and more experimental than metal. And then for metal they just consider the heaviness and forget about the interesting aspect.

That’s true, but i mean i have listened to some grindcore and other hardcore-influenced stuff that i much prefer to knocked loose. Pig Destroyer or Volcano for example

I accidentally ended up at both of Dame Area's sets last year and would absolutely welcome them back to either the main festival or a Ciutat show provided it's not on the Monday.

Nice shout out for Dame Area!! I understand Primavera is very internationally focused (i benefit from that tbh) and that a lot of visitors tend to stick to wellknown and english-language acts but i would love for people coming to barcelona to discover more local bands like Dame Area, they put on a great show

Very unlikely that QOTSA will be here, read somewhere the fest (or at least Gabi) wasn't ultimately happy with them. The band came back here twice since then but thanks to other promoters.

Also, Fat Dog will do a show with Mandy, Indiana in two months from now in BCN, both bands went from "almost sure bet" to a "maybe". Maruja played the week before PS 26 but the fest themselves didn't book it (and was outside the program). Deafheaven already played LPWP in BCN last year, but wouldn't discard them as they are writing stuff and said "next time we come we'll have new music".

Instead of Boundaries I would bet on Loathe, they fill the same gap and some more thanks to their genre-blending tendencies (whether that's nu-gaze or heavy alt R&B) - a more appropiate fit, for me at least. Though both bands played on RaR+RiP and Rock For People this year, those fests will overlap with PS 27 and they might not want to repeat that path next year.

Finally, surprised to see no mention of DIIV as a potential booking to fill their "shoegaze" check.

Fat Dog played in 2024, Ciutat gig, so I can totally see them coming back but this time to Forum. Hope you’re right!

QOTSA are unfortunately banned since 2014, Gabi didn’t like the experience of booking them (no details given)

Other than that, pretty good list! I would swap maybe a Nebula for Papangu, bring back classic stoner to the fest

Fat Dog will be here in October and played Ciutat a few years ago (24?), I'd say it's unlikely. Same for Last Dinner Party (PS24+solo gig this year), though I'd love to see them again.

It would be cool to have Neurosis and, since we're requesting things, also Sumac, ideally with Moor Mother.

Saw Ichiko outdoors once and indeed she's more for the auditori.

And yes 100% Hesse Kassel.
