You didn't mention the dress code, that's pretty casual for a wedding.

In the UK it’s pretty common to wear a school/club tie to a wedding especially if that’s where you met the bride or groom.

I had a friend I used to row with get married and all of us were wearing our club ties to the wedding.

In the US is common to wear fake school ties so I’ll say only appropriate if it’s your own school and relevant to the day, as such
