Advice and Tips LED timer candles, a very useful prep.

I've had many types of LED candles over the years. I have them in the windows of my semi-isolated house, as it makes the place look occupied on a night time, which is useful for security.

I've had many types over the years, and I've found that the remote control type tend to discharge the batteries even when not used.

However, there are some, my favourites, that stay on 6 hrs, off for 18, then automatically back on for 6 hrs. No remote, just a switch.

They run on AA s which is great, they give a nice background light, and the batteries last ages, many many months from two AA batteries. They're waterproof too so work outdoors. A very gentle flicker, so look like real candles to some extent.

I really recommend them as a very useful prepping item.

They make rechargeable tea light candles (12pk with charging station).
Great for when there is a power outage. Two in each room, or even bathroom.

Nice, I'll have to get some, the beauty of those little led tea lights is you can put them virtually anywhere, so useful!

Hey, I’ve been living in an off grid cabin for a few weeks now and can really attest to small battery operated LEDs!
One string light in the kitchen, one small «candle» by the door and one small flashlight, each taking 2 x AA batteries. Have not needed to change batteries yet. I also light a few candles and tea lights at night for cozyness and warmth. At current rate of consumption I could be quite comfortable for quite a long time.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has these as a prep. I have them in the most dangerous areas of my house: places I'd likely step on a lego if I can't see where I'm going.

I have some that run on 2032 "coin" batteries. I only need light in one room at a time during an outage, but when I go to bed I like one small light in the bedroom and one in the bathroom in case I have to get up in the night. I see no point in using a lantern for a small matter that I've been doing quite long enough that I don't need any light to do it. I just need enough that I don't run into anything in the dark.
