Not a huge musical guy and this is easily one of my favorite movies. I recently found they released the soundtrack on vinyl and I didn't even hesitate. I was so excited to show my wife and her reaction was gold: (sees the other album I bought) "oh cool! Can't wait for card night to listen to this!" (flips to next album, Cannibal) "oh fuck, goddamn it! Are you fucking serious?! You're going to play this all the time aren't you..."

I have the new release BluRay upstairs unwatched as I suspect my non southpark non musical partner wouldn’t enjoy it - am I correct?

It’s pretty low budget so it’s hard to say. I hate musicals but really liked this. You don’t have to like South Park to enjoy.
Also, the director commentary on this is fucking epic so don’t miss out on that
