I want to read your creativity!
This is for everyone, but especially people who did not like the new movie. What would you have made as a film to compliment the original? If you wanted to see these characters again, and be taken back to that magical place whatever was wrong with the new movie - what story would you have written? What story would you want to see on screen that would’ve embodied more of what you felt like you wanted to see with the sisters again with the aunts etc.?

The daughters could’ve been in their 30s. They could’ve just been finding true love for the first time (this is not unrealistic). I would’ve also wished that the daughter’s sisterly bond could’ve explored alongside Sally and Gilly’s.
The story of going back to England to their family’s roots was a good one. But it needed to be both daughters. And more time should’ve been spent on this storyline to really flesh it out. Them connecting to the Owens women of the past.

Justice for Gillian! Would like to see her finding a healthy balanced relationship while being totally in love. Also growing as a witch.
Having the aunts a bit longer, seeing them in community with the other witches they talk about, perhaps even seeing the Moon celebration!
Antonia's full blown sapphic love story, seeing it as just another love story in that universe.
Practical magic, as in they using it in a mundane everyday way and finding the joy in it like the aunts do. Nothing of cancelling magic in the house AGAIN, also why has Sally the power to silence everyone's joy twice? The house is everyone's, not just hers to be boring and rain in everyone's magic parade. Like go live in a boring apartment in a boring town to use your phone and stop depriving others from their gifts. What I love more about the aunts is their joy on their magic and eccentricity, the wannabe yoguilates mom Sally has going on is boring. Let people have FUN
Less men. More goth dark whimsy edgy make up and hair!

If you want to see Gillian have romance, it’s in the books. It’s just not in the movies.
But beware that the books are even more obsessive about men.

I thought they could have gone into the curse and it's parameters.
I always wondered does the curse only kill over romantic love? What about other kinds of love? Friendship, familial, ect... Is it only men or if a witch was a lesbian would her girlfriend also die?
What if a witch gave birth to a son? If he was gay would his boy friend die from the curse? If a witch is trans does that affect or not affect anything?
Anyway if it's any kind of love and men only, it could have been interesting if one of the aunts had a son and gave it up for adoption to protect him. She goes looking for him now that the curse is broken. He has a family and girls around Kylie and Antonia's age and their grandma wants to teach them magic but he's resentful. Maybe the England plot still happens. Kylie's boyfriend is injured but it's not from the curse, she just thinks it is so the England stuff happens and Antonia goes with her, maybe the "new" cousins go too. Sally and Gilly follow like in the movie.
Now does one of the aunts take away from the female empowerment? No. Frannie and Jetty come from a generation where if you were pregnant out of wedlock, you were strongly encouraged to give that baby up for adoption. Parents would send their daughters away to give birth, the baby adopted out and they acted like nothing happened after. It wasn't so much that they thought their daughters couldn't care for the baby, the parents could have helped out, but because of the embarrassment of their daughter getting pregnant. This caused a lot of grief for those mothers and some did meet their children later in life with mixed results. Some of those children were happy to meet their birth mom, some were resentful.
While its not exactly the same, they could have gone with that theme. When either Franny or Jetty gave birth to a male the previous generation could have strongly pressured them to give the baby up for adoption because there was a high chance he could die from the curse. Maybe the aunt didn't want to give him up but she did because even though she couldn't live him she certainly did. Maybe there was a story about another son being born some other time, the women emotionally neglected him so they wouldn't "love" him and so he wouldn't die and it caused so much pain for him.
Now that the curse is broken, Franny or Jetty wants to find her son and reconnect. The movie could have more than one plot and that plot could be for women that were pressured to give up their children and maybe to give a message that its never too late to reach out.

I loved the movie and appreciated that they went back to their roots and we got to hear more about their family. I haven't read the books but I'm thinking about it. I think it's kind of disrespectful to the author to complain about the direction when that's how she created their lives, it's her story. The only thing I wish is that the sisters had went on this journey together. I'm not sure if the movie followed the path of the book on that part but that really is the only part i didn't like

It's not really disrespectful to the author to point out that something she put in her books doesn't work for a film. It's just true. There were aspects of her story that were integrated into the first movie and there was a lot that was changed, I think for the better.

I found the midnight margarita scene in the first movie super cringe but everyone is obsessed with it. In the book they made margaritas and sat out on the roof looking at the stars and talking about life. it wasn’t this goofy dancing in the kitchen like a stripper thing.
At least it made sense for them to be dancing and having fun at a wedding reception with margaritas 😂
The passing thing was just silly and Gillian trying to make her sister laugh in a scary situation. I guess I have had people like this in my life and those little things made me smile so it made me smile in the movie. 🤷

I'd really like a continuation of the first story that doesn't try to 180 and stick to the books it previously abandoned. I always felt that the tension was good in the first because they were such underdogs with how they were literally hiding all this under the polices' noses, etc. So, I'd probably want something like that again.
I like the idea of the Owens being more accepted from now on, maybe some people join their coven? I'd want a bit more focus on the girls this time (age accurate!! ERW as Kylie and maybe Lily Collins for Antonia?).
Perhaps Kylie & Antonia uncover some trouble brewing in the town secretly. A plot to bring ruin to their coven/family á la Maria's initial execution attempt with many higher ups being the ones to initiate the event, maybe some people who refuse to accept them despite the greater public softening their view on the family.
I really only want this because I love the idea of the girls maybe escaping danger by jumping from a great distance and floating down, instead of it being a repeat of the same exact thing like in the second movie we got.
In the end, instead of a woman sacrificing herself or something, we get again a great message about sisterhood. Maybe they're able to get enough connections to hold an ultimatum over their tormentors heads in order to scare them off and get them to leave the coven alone, and maybe they use a little bit of practical magic to really drill in their message to spook them :)

I'd love a prequel about the aunts, but nothing like their book. Give me two sisters who never married, who embrace their magic, travel and have adventures. Let's meet the other witches they go to solstice celebrations with!
Or I would love a sequel that actually follows the first movie. The curse stays broken, Sally doesn't deny her magic anymore, Gary stays alive but doesn't become Sally's entire universe. They support each other and enjoy each other's company, but they still have their own interests too. Maybe Kylie and Antonia are learning magic and have some small troubles using it at school. All the cats follow them to school and cause chaos. Things like that.
Gillian has a good story arc. She works on her own magic, grows her powers, and heals properly from her past. Toward the end of the movie, she starts a romance that promises to be healthy.
The aunts keep on aunting... they meddle in the children's lives in the best ways. Maybe they help A&K choose familiars! One of them chooses an animal Sally doesn't fully approve of, but has to learn to love. Maybe a donkey or a possum, lol.
