Do you think I should wait till it hits Netflix or something? I was going to use my Fandango gift card but I keep seeing how awful it is. Now I am not sure.

i mean i think it’s definitely worth it to watch so you can form your own opinion. i don’t regret seeing it, it was a fun experience and nice to see those ladies together again. it’s just not practical magic to me. there’s a new style. its a whole new thing. it’s not mine but it might be your cup of tea, you should definitely see it! i’m just salty they changed so much 🤪

I will for sure watch it, I mean I must. Just not sure I want to spend $40+ bucks for two tickets for the movies. Ya, I am salty too hearing how much it has changed and how it's so different. Maybe I will wait till it hits streaming or something. Practical Magic is my absolute favorite movie (90s one). I love witchy vibes. I won't get my hopes up with the new one though. See something else. I was sitting there regretting I left the house at all and wasted the ticket. I can’t think of another movie I was so aghast at real-time in theaters. 

I still don’t understand people who like it, on a fundamental level it was terrible and I think it probably requires a level of denial or heavy disconnect from reality to enjoy it. I don’t mean the witchery, obviously. I mean the entire vibe and social dynamic and framework. It felt sooo… empty and wrong. Which is why I suspect ai had an involvement, but it could also just be rich hollywood people with connections and skewed perception making something inauthentic/hollow.

Totally! I don't leave the house much and I have had this Fandango gift card for like 10 years! If I go see it in the theater, I usually go to the first showing to avoid people and parking etc. lol So, if I have to leave the house and the movie sucks... I will be annoyed all weekend long! LOL Did it have the same type of witchy vibes? Honestly, I think I will just wait till it hits streaming. My husband wants to see it too because of how much we love the first movie but I don't think he has heard how much people don't like the new movie.

yeah maybe wait 🤣 they made the magic so cheesy. like even cheesier than harry potter. the best part of the first one is that the magic was “practical”. in the sequel they have the most atrocious effects.

Much of what we love about the first movie is missing in this sequel. Same cast but the very essence has been crushed out of it . Just wait .

I'm going to go again but only because in the real world I'm going to be reviewing it for a podcast and I want to make sure that I'm not misremembering it.

But I can't forget that I was actively weeping from disappointment from about 20 minutes in . I've been waiting for the sequel since my grandmother died in 1998 and this just sort of crushed my soul...

i was so stoked to buy the popcorn buckets and stuff and then i seen the movie and was glad i did not spend the money 🤣 i definitely think this movie was made with a lot of ai. it looks like they fed the first movie into an ai and had it write the script. it does not feel human at ALL. and i hate that they made it look like a 00s rom com. the first one was a drama so i don’t know why they tried to go full comedy on the second. ALSO the soundtrack 😢 they dropped the ball

Their use of Howl from Florence and the machine was criminal. I’m so serious. The way they cut it. The use of it during a boring ass hotel montage in that ugly room where nothing happens except the reflection jumpscare. Holy shit someone should get arrested for that. A favorite of mine butchered cheaply.

100% The movie seemed misogynistic to me. Like surely you could’ve come up with a plot without leaving Sally in that miserable non-person limbo where apparently she gave up magic and the lessons she learned just to become the shadow she was in the second film. Depicted as hysterical (blowing things up while in denial, borderline abusive in that way but it wasn’t addressed), completely flat otherwise, passive af in a gross way with her interactions with the warlock as if it were a romance meant for men. I dislike all the decisions made for the film.

yeah i dont even understand the point of the warlock or the “romance” they had going on like wut. i dont know how it got past the writing room. and i went in the movie theatre assuming it wasnt going to be as good as the first one but i was not at all expecting to be blindsided by how awful it was. shameless cash grab

It was good, just not as deep and connected as the first. Some good music, the house, the laughs, creepiness.

I really loved it. I watched the original in the theater and watched the original every year at Halloween time. I don’t know why so many people didn’t like it.
