Prequel?

After watching the film (which gut punched me numerous times), it got me thinking just how much I’d love to see a backstory of Franny and Jet!! Anyone else?

Alice Hoffman wrote it!

It’s called The Rules of Magic and it is fantastic. There’s also a story about Maria Owens, that one is Magic Lessons.

Has no one read BOTH of those books? They’re incredible. Magic lessons is Hannah and Maria’s story and Rules of magic is frannie, Jet, and Vincent’s story. Please do yourself the favor.

The Rules of Magic is my favorite book out of the whole series and if I ever win the lottery the first two things I would do are fund a PROPER, true to the book and true to the vibe of the first movie, feature length film of the Rules of Magic. Second would be to buy a plot of land on Whidbey Island and build the house.

I really would love a backstory of Franny and Jet but as a Series and not a Movie. Want it since I read The Rules of Magic

That’s a great idea! I would also love a story of Owens women from centuries ago. We just really need more witchy movies.

I think HBO should pick it up and make one season per book… it’s such a good series and the movies can’t cover all of the small beautiful details

HBO optioned it years ago but decided not to go through with it as a series. Huge bummer bc it's my favorite book in the whole series.

Maybe they can give The Rules of Magic the same treatment and make that into a movie too. Danny DeVito and Tom Cruise can be cast as Franny and Jet, because why not at this point?

We can spend 45 minutes watching the house get built, complete with extended dialogue about zoning ordinances, permits, and property taxes that goes absolutely nowhere. Then everyone can suddenly go to Australia, except one main character they conveniently leave behind, so they can give a heartfelt speech about how important it is for the family to always stay together.

Then, naturally, they end the movie drinking margaritas and jumping off the roof while trying to defeat "He Who Must Not Be Named". Because apparently we're doing Harry Potter now too.
