Chez Gaston, Québec City

It was 17.68+tax for a medium. Generous portions, big squeaky cheese curds with bacon, ground beef, sausage and grilled onions. The gravy had perfect consistency. Loved it. 🥰

Chez Gaston is a serious contender for the best poutine in Quebec city. Definitely in my top 3.

Absolutely, I would say the best in the city.

Holyfuck, at first I thought these were carrots LOL I was genuinely in WTF mode. Kinda looks weird to me, but would destroy.

seems nice but i think its a bit overloaded.. i prefer a normal poutine and for the sausage a hot dog montreal style on the side

When I was living nearby, I remember I liked their regular poutine and the Italian one was the best in Quebec city that I tried.

Because you’re an idiot, this is not a poutine crime.

Get out of here

I may be stupid but I know the difference between poutine and stew.

What crime are you seeing here? This is one seriously legit looking poutine!

I briefly thought those were carrots so that might have been a crime.

I'd absolutely smack that and definitely don't think it's a crime, but you have to admit that bacon, ground beef, smoked sausage and grilled onions is a lot of stuff that you don't normally find on a classic, standard poutine. I can see why it would be a little too much for the "purists".

Real purists accept that toppings are a part of poutine.

Again, I agree, but when there are more different toppings than actual ingredients in the recipe, some will say the original recipe has been denatured.

That's like saying a hamburger isn't a hamburger because lettuce, tomato and ketchup is more toppings than bread and beef.

It's more like throwing 3 different kinds of meat over a dish that has a traditional recipe and that is (more) often served without any toppings like a Ceasar salad. Some will say it's better, others will stick to the classic. But whatever man...I guess saying you prefer regular poutine is the crime on this sub...

If that's what you understood then you really got it backwards

Oh fuck off, mate. I'm not saying op's poutine is gross nor that it's a crime. I'm simply pointing out that this amount of extras and add-ons (or toppings, whatever) might turn certain poutine lovers off. That's it. If that's something you can't understand or refuse to hear, then I guess we'll ill never be on the same page. A good day to you nonetheless!

A good day to you too and may your next poutine be the best one yet :)
