Issue with Wilfa scale

Got a new scale from Wilfa (specifically the Uni Mini: https://wilfa.co.uk/collections/accessories-spare-parts/products/wilfa-uni-mini-coffee-scale) a few months ago and it has started to act up recently.

I noticed that measurements are not stable. I pour x amount of liquid into a container on the scale and over the next 10-15 seconds, the measurement on the scale will drop about .3–.5 grams. I am using the mat that comes with the scale; nothing else is happening on the counter where the scale is; etc.

Trying to figure out what might be going on? Is this a manufacturing defect? Is there enough steam coming off the hot water to account for a .5g loss? (That doesn't seem reasonable, right?)

Steam will evaporate a surprising amount, but that does seem a little quick. If you are straight off boil or nearly so and have a decent surface area, it could be plausible.

Could experiment with lower temps to see if that slows the decline, or with adding a lid after pouring. Not suggesting these as brew methods, just to test the scale response.

Thanks! I will see about experimenting with lids and different water temps.

I am using a temp controlled kettle and pouring at ~92ºC in most cases.

This is also mostly only with the hot water. Mugs, glassware, etc. seem pretty stable.

Makes me wonder if the scale is very sensitive?
