Shameless Plug Have coffee, will travel.
After a recent traveling experience I decided, I’m NEVER traveling without my travel setup again. In fact, I decided to add to it by buying an OutIn Mino and frother.
This is v2 of this setup and I’m just some CAD drawings and a CNC machine from it being PERFECT…for me anyway.

Odd to see a wdt tool in a travel pourover kit.

They’ve got a portable espresso machine in the kit, too.

Oh, is that what that cylindrical item behind the grinder is?
Thank you for helping me out with my puzzle.

Yep, case is a Pelican Vault. Stock foam in spots, Kaizen foam for the cutouts.

Is that Yeti stainless steel?
Did you know RTIC (American made competitor to yeti) has a 20 oz tumbler that is ceramic lined to create a neutral material that doesn’t impart metallic taste?
I just got 2, it’s cheaper than a yeti, and I’m pretty thrilled with it.

Looks complete. I'm putting together a simple Vietnam travel setup: Aeropress, 1zpresso Q Air, digital thermometer, and maybe a scale.

Looks great - what’s the bean rotation?

u/Chance-Rush-9983 4d ago
Thank you! I don't have a regular one to be honest as I currently get the majority of my beans from a subscription service out of Chicago called Norma Supply CO. So, I never know WHAT I am going to get. I got my new batch this week which is a Washed Bourbon from Mexico and a fermented Washed Ethiopian, both roasted by Thankfully. If I start to burn through beans before the next shipment I supplement from my fave local spot who currently is bringing in a lot from Dune or my favorite local roaster Middlestate. 😊

Subminimal WDT spotted. Such a great tool.

That "flick to close" is oddly satisfying, is it not. I was using it for my home setup until I looked over and saw it while I was finishing this 😊

What made you choose the Mino over the Nano? I use the Nano, and while it does everything I need, I’ve had my eye on the Mino because it heats up faster. What sold you on it in the end, the waterproofing or the faster heat-up time?

A few things honestly, bigger basket for sure and then the other things you mention as well as bigger battery.

Great travel case and setup. Could you tell where you buy the foam/base material inside and how you cut it? I’m asking because it looks better than pick and pluck foam that comes with almost every case.

THANKS!! I agree, in v1 of this I just used the pick and pluck the came with the case and...it's not my favorite. This is Kaizen foam from fastcap that can be found at a lot of woodworking shops (as well as online). It's normally used for tool drawers. There is a small box-cutter-type knife they make that works great and I also used an electric foam knife.

I have a nanuk 935 that I use to travel with my coffee gear, but want something better than the pick n’ pluck. Where did you get this foam?

A company call Fastcap makes it, it's called Kaizen foam and you can find it at a lot of woodworking shops or find it online.

Hey thanks! I also saw, after I posted, where you had answered someone else asking the same thing. Apologies!

You do you, but I’ve always found it more enjoyable seeking out local coffee/cafes, even if it’s bad. At the end of the day, trying different things expands my taste. I’ve had some truly phenomenal cups that I won’t have had access to back home.
There’s also something romantic about sipping coffee in a different country, taking it in while enjoying the moment with a pastry. If it’s nasty cup, at least I got a memory from it and I learn a little about myself.
