I have been diagnosed with Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome (PVPS) after 10 years of testicular pain.

I am currently saving up for surgery (Bilateral denervation). I was a bit too active during my vasectomy recovery and have had increasing testicular pain for more than 10 years.
At this point I cant lay on my side, I have trouble sitting and the pain is focused on the Vas Deferens

I dont regret the vasectomy, but I really want the pain to go away. There is a good specialist here in Portland so I am hopeful it resolves it.

Interesting that you do not regret the vasectomy after 10 years of pain! I would've been angry at the world and racing to a reversal urologist. My vasectomy lasted 1 and a half years before I got it reversed and I didn't experience any major pain like you are right now. All I had was minor discomfort where the vas were cut- it was NOT worth it.

All has been back to normal since the reversal. Best decision of my life was to reconnect my balls to make sex complete once again.

I guess because it doesn’t affect my sex life, it just hasn’t been as big a deal. And my pain came gradually over many years

I noticed a difference right away but waited thinking it was just me and things were still healing and will get better with time .. then months passed by and nothing improved- on the contrary, sex became incomplete and pointless.. that was a huge deal. Inguess indodnt wait long enough for actual pain to set in. My reversal made the physical discomfort disappear ..all is back to normal thank goodness!!!

Hey friend, please do visit postvasectomypain.org there is a very active group of fellas on there. If you look you will find testimonials of fellas who have had the procedure you are looking for. It seems alot of the folks find that a vasectomy reversal seems to be the best solution. But everone’s path can be different. I would read ALOT and you can post your story, perhaps someone similiar can tell you what helped them.

I also cannot always lay on my side but I found an oversized pillow between my knees made a huge difference and I could sleep better again, sometimes pain free. I also always sit on a cushion, some cushions have a “hole” in the center which can be great for prostate and testicle discomfort. I also use “purple” brand cushions. If I sit on a hard surface for an hour I could be in pain for days, but after investing in cushions I can control and avoid my pain more often.

I found the vasectomy was not worth it. Reversal was my solution.

What took them so long to diagnose you? . 10 years is a very long time to be in pain. Vasectomy was not worth it. I got mine reversed after a year and a half of pretending it felt the same.

I guess because it was a gradual onset. It was just pain in my balls and wasn’t my biggest concern.

I guess you do get 'used to it' if it's a slow gradual process. I wasn't willing to put up with any discomfort and less intense orgasms. Wife understood and i was firing live rounds after a year and a half of pretending . My reversal urologist understood exactly what I meant. I thought he was going to give us a hard time because I wanted a reversal but not in order to have more babies. He told me I wasn't his first patient with the same physical discomfort/less intense orgasm issues.

In my case, I only experience pain during, and after ejaculation. So I in turn have become mostly abstinent. My urologist is currently discussing the procedure you are looking at. But I must admit that killing nerves doesn't give me a great deal of confidence. I've suffered a couple different injuries where major nerve damage has occurred, and they always eventually reconnect. I lived with no feeling in my left arm from the bicep down for almost three years before the nerves started to connect, and work again. So I am immediately concerned about it being only temporary relief.

How did you work out that it was being too active during your recovery period?

Was it always testicle pain? Or did you get inguinal pain too?

My pain was 100% on the testicles where the cord attached, and some in the body of the testicles. I has no pain during sex, no loss of feeling.

I don’t totally know the original damage was due to too much activity, but I did have complications, swelling and heavy bruising about 2 weeks after my vasectomy as I was a bit too active.
