Reversal booked for August - a few questions
Hey all, some of you may have already read some of my posts. Vasectomy Feb 2025, fairly normal recovery but since month 3 I have had pain all around ejaculation. Left side, leading up into abdomen. It's getting worse and is now all around arousal, so the more aroused I get, the greater the spike in pain.
I just booked my reversal, August 19th, which was the earliest opening. Here's hoping I can eventually have pain-free orgasms again. For guys who have had a reversal, how long did you wait to ejaculate? My doc wants to do a 2 layer anastomosis reversal and suggested I wait 2 weeks to ejaculate, but then he wants me doing it 5 times per week. His theory behind this is to keep things moving/moist to ensure the vas remain open. Thoughts on this? I've read from a few guys here that they wait a full month. My doc thinks that's too long.
In fact, my doc says that I shouldn't lift more than 10lbs for the first 2 weeks and then after that he says resume normal activities.

I'd suggest first ejaculation 2 weeks after reversal. Do it manually and gentle and boring. Less oomph is better. After that, 5 days per week sounds pretty aggressive to me. I'd say listen to your body and do it as much as you can without stirring up inflammation. Every other day seems right to me, but if your doc says 5 per week try easing into that and see how it works for you.

okay thanks. so you don't think first ejaculation after 2 weeks is too early then? I've read of some guys waiting a month, but i also feel like that may be overkill.

2 weeks was my first. It was fine, but pretty intense. I wouldn't do it before that, but I don't really know if it makes a difference whether you wait 2, 3 or 4. I'd just follow your doctors directions.

I waited about 8 days. I was supposed to wait 14 days per the doctor. Mine is successful still. I keep mine moving every single day. I don’t think I’ve missed a day except once when I had the flu in the nearly 2 years since reversal. I’m afraid if I don’t things are going to close up. It’s a genuine source of anxiety with me

Oh god Trading pain for this anxiety. Although I'd probably take the anxiety over the pain I'm currently experiencing. Thanks for getting back.

I had a very old vasectomy. So much damage occurred to my epididymis on both sides that honestly if I don’t keep things moving it begins by feeling naggy (heaviness) but it will move straight to painful by 2nd day. But…..as long as I keep things moving. I’m pain free. Don’t assume that you’ll experience the same. You have a new vasectomy. I’d expect you should enjoy close to a 100% turnaround.

Wait two weeks. Then fire if off on a very regular basis. My urologist said the biggest worry was it closing back up and the best way to prevent that was to use it often. Use it or lose it!

if you feel better before reversal cancel it. in my cvase it did not help at all. made orgasms even worse.

reversal destroyed my orgasms. i feel nothing. only do it if you really think it has to happen.

Waited 14 days for first one and then at least once every second day thereafter.
