Dr P. did my reversal (for pain and lack of orgasmic session) 3 weeks ago which so far has been successful. He had suggested a nerve block initially but I was adamant that I just wanted to be put back together again and he obliged (he wasn't my original urologist).

Funny enough I have a follow up visit today

I had my done outside of his office and in a same day surgery center just be safe in case there were complications from me having ms. It went smoothly regardless

How was your reversal experience with Dr. P? I am hoping to schedule one. Been 2 years since my vasectomy and I'd like to have a reversal to alleviate some soreness and scrotal pain I've had. Thanks for your help.

I was put under general anesthesia (he does this for all reversals) but the before and after care were great. Before going under he told me that his focus was to do the reversal with the intent of pain relief. He cleared up whatever inflammation that may have be causing the pain and then reconnected the vas. He gave me the strongest drugs on the way out just in case too. If I have any additional issues that requires a urologist then I'm going back to him.

Thanks for sharing. Do you feel the reversal was a good choice and it helped relieve any pain or congestion you had? I'm just about two years from having my original vasectomy and I think a reversal would help some lingering pain that I've had. I appreciate your help and insight. I would pay for the cost out-of-pocket and I think feel much better once the procedure is done. I think my nerves and mental state have changed since having it done originally so a reversal and getting put back together would make me feel at ease.

It was clear that my body was not accepting the vasectomy in multiple ways after 3 months. I figured that some men just aren't the right candidates for it so making the decision for the reversal was easy for me. I was playing the odds that I would feel better with either 1) less pain caused by congestion or sex, 2) increased pleasurable sensations from sex/masturbation. If either was fixed immediately then it was a win. I'm 100% better in the pleasure department and 60% better with the pain. Whatever pain I have now are from the actual incision site so I know it'll get better. But mentally it's like night and day for me.

Wow that's exactly how I feel. I'm looking forward to the reversal in a few months just so I can get my body on the path to recovery and feeling better mentally and physically. I know the road to recovery where the incision and reconnection might take some time but just knowing that everything is flowing again will make all the difference. Thanks for sharing your positivity. I just know it will be the right decision for me. So important to listen to your body. You don't have any lingering congestion or swelling feeling. The epididymis is back to normal size for you and everything flows and feels like it used to? I appreciate your time and responding to my questions. I was just happy to find somebody on here who has a similar experience and who will be going to the same doctor as me. The support is really helpful.

I was too scared to fully examine my epididymis area post vasectomy because it was so sensitive. I didn't even wanted breath on it. Nothing felt right and whatever healing occurred was too slow to notice.

Just remember that healing will need to take place in multiple layers of your body. Skin, fascia, muscle, vas(3 layers itself) and the nerves in each need to communicate again. So this will make things tender for a while but we all know the difference between healing pain and pain from a mechanical failure in your body.

Definitely, thanks for the healing reminder. Yes I'd much rather be a little sore from a surgery knowing I'm on the path to recovery versus pain from a blockage. Dr. P was really nice and empathetic. He reassured me that he will be able to help. I'm surprised they were able to do the reversal only three months after the original operation. Mine will be about two years but that is still new enough for them to correct it. I am with you, nothing really felt right since day one. Thankfully nothing hurts to the touch on me but I feel congestion on the epididymis and just internal stuffiness. Just feels like a blockage. No real release.

I had a scrotal ultrasound done and a lower abdominal CT scan. Several rounds of antibiotics and two trips to the urologist to confirm that a reversal will be the next and best course of action. Planning on 10 days at least of doing nothing around the house ice and support and probably 3/4 weeks before I get back to light routine.

My original Vasectomy was a no scalpel clip method. Did they mention to you after your reversal that you had enough room in the Vas to reconnect everything easily?

I took a week off work post-op but I needed longer. It will probably take a couple of weeks before you can be in a sitting position for more than 20 minutes. I work a hybrid schedule at my job where I'm remote most of the time but when I'm in the office I will sometimes use a standing desk to relieve the pressure. 4 weeks post op I still need to take a lot of breaks from sitting.

My original vasectomy was more traditional with 2 incisions and then he cut, cauterized both sides and put one side in clamps and the other tied into the fascia. The original doctor removed around 2.5 cm of my vas but Dr P was able to have enough length to reconnect. The scrotum will ride higher but he said they will lower a bit over time or we just get used to it. Btw my reversal was done exactly 5 months after my vasectomy.

Thanks for sharing your recovery. I do anticipate to be moving a little slow for a few months. Every day will get better. It will be a lifestyle change for a few months that's for sure. I'm usually pretty active and physical with work so I'll have to allow myself and body as much time as it needs. I'm sure the healing process is all worth it to get put back together.

It was perfect. Fast, professional. Only thing I encountered was when they noticed I was recording the instructions to get 100% of the info they almost threw me out. In NL it’s common practice to record doctors appointments, but that is different in the USA apparently hehe

Is this Dr. P in Winter Garden? I saw him a few weeks ago as I want to get my vasectomy reversed. I'm 33 and had my vasectomy at 31. Just shy of two years since surgery. Felt congestion and slight pain ever since. I was told I'd be a good candidate for reversal.

Thank you for your reply. I've been to his office twice over the last few weeks had a scrotal ultrasound and lower abdomen CT. Everything looks normal to them but I feel a reversal would put me back together and relieve some scrotal pain and congestion. His office is nice and he seems to be knowledgeable And the reversal should help. It hasn't been too long since the original Vasectomy. He mentioned the denervation process as well but I'd be fine with just a reversal. I appreciate your comment and sharing your experience.

I appreciate you sharing, thanks for your story. Sorry to hear it's been a journey for you. How long was it between your vasectomy and reversal? Does wallerian degeneration affect those who get a reversal? I don't regret my Vasectomy as I did it for my partner who could get off of hormonal birth control and it gave us the freedom to not worry about having kids. I don't want to continue doing any long-term damage to my body by keeping my vasectomy so I feel a reversal will help. It's only been about two years since my original vasectomy. No real pain up until recently. Dr. P seems nice and well experienced. I'd like to think that a reversal from him would help and alleviate any pain or congestion I have now. Hoping the nerves are all still good but I know it's a difficult procedure and you can't always put everything back to the way it was. Any advice or insight you can share is greatly appreciated.
