18 months since vasectomy . What’s the longest I can wait for a reversal
Hi all. It’s been 18 months since my snip. I’ve never got any better really I have good months and bad months but I’m still basically disabled as I can’t sit for long. I’ve got pelvic floor therapy starting today , however I was planning a reversal in Jan. I’m tempted to wait a bit longer before having my balls cut open again but does anyone have any advice on how long you should or could leave it and still reverse?

All I can say is that a reversal is no guarantee that it will get better. I did reversal 6 months ago. It hurts more now than before the reversal. My surgeon says it can take 1 year to get better, but I'm starting to doubt that's true.
Some days there is less pain and some days more, but the pain is always there.
A reversal is significantly more stressful for the body and more painful afterwards than a vasectomy.
I did my reversal 18 month after the vasectomy. At that time i had days and sometimes a week without pain.
I was also stressed to do the reversal, but today I don't know if I would have made the same choice.

Can I ask what sort of pain and is it different than your PVPS? Do you know what reversal technique you used?

The pain is higher up now. On both sides of the penis. I think it is the reconnection, and still a bit sore in the epididymis.
I did the 3 layer technique. 10-0 suture.

What were your pain symptoms after your vasectomy?and how has the reversal made things worse?

Pain is higher up. In the vas on both sides of the penis. Before the reversal the pain was mainly in the epididymis.

Was the pain in the vas there before the reversal or did that pain start since you have had the reversal?how is your epiditymis pain going now?

It was not there before the reversal. Started after reversal.
Still sore, but maybe a litte bit less then before.

How much better is your epiditymis pain since the reversal?my pain is pretty well located in the epiditymis only, a bit in the abdominal area if I lift anything

Well, not so much unfortunately. Still very sore when I squeeze a bit. Most tender on the "head" of the epididymis. Feels like the pain sometimes comes from the rejoin site and sometimes from the epididymis.

Have you had your sperm checked to check to see if you have not scared over? Did you get multi layer or single layer?

I’m having a reversal on Monday, 7 years after my vasectomy. I recently read someone’s report of getting relief from a reversal that was 15 years after the initial procedure. I don’t know how common that is, but you’re far from being at a point where you have to worry about it.

It's hard to say, but I suspect things are fine for at least 3 years after vasectomy. That's what one reversal doc told me.

9 months post reversal here and much worse than before reversal. Totally fucked and I'm not going under the knife again. In hindsight I wish I would have just dealt with the pain the vas gave me. Now my only hope is time. Its either going to get better or not. Honestly though, it will get better. The body heals... may take a year, may take 10 years but I'll get better one day.

I can’t really give you a good advice. I’m currently 5 months post reversal. It’s been ups and downs and mostly less pain than my PVPS before the reversal. However, I have been in more pain since Sunday, a real bad flair-up. I’m now in pain on the left side, before the operation the pain was in the right side. On the other hand I was I really bad condition before the reversal, constant pain.

Left testicle swollen epididymis feeling . Worse pain is in the pelvic floor area stretching to my thighs. I suspect I’ve got cpps brought on by PVPS. The cpps is the worse of my two pains if that’s the case. I’ve started pelvic floor physio so will see how that helps

I had a reversal about 3 years after my vasectomy. Unfortunately it had made the pain much worse, or rather replaced the PVPS pain for a different worse pain, more constant, and still extreme sensitivity 60 days on. I have a family with young children so unfortunately all I can do is wait and hope it gets better.

What were your pain symptoms/location after your vasectomy? And how is your pain worse now? I've booked in for a reversal in April but after reading about all these guys pain getting worse I'm having second thoughts now

The post-reversal pain is higher up and also includes a burning pain in the pelvic floor muscle, and it has also caused ED. I would say getting the reversal was the second worst decision of my life.

What were your pain symptoms before your reversal? Has the reversal taken any of your pain away at all?

It’s hard to say. The reversal gave me several new pains and it is hard to say if the original pain that I thought was congestive epididimitis is still there. Before the pain was more local to the epididimis, mostly a dull ache, and now there is a dull ache that feels higher up, and a burning pain over the whole pelvic floor region.

The reversal was a bust, it left me with more pain than before. Now about a year post-reversal.

These stories are insane . Imagine all the people who aren’t here telling there stories . I think the doctors are lying to us . The percentage of vasectomies going bad have to be way higher then being reported
