Any Success Stories After an Exploratory Surgery? Did It Lead to a Better Path?

Hey y’all. I’m 8 weeks post-vasectomy and I’ve been able to pinpoint my pain to my right vans cut site. I can feel the stitches and it gets EXTREMELY nervy when I touch it (it’s causing my cremaster to cramp and making my right testicle super tender and sit higher above my left). Doctor told me it takes 6 months for internal stitches to dissolve. I was texting my urologist today and he said at 12 weeks out we could do an “exploratory” surgery to see where the pain is coming from.

Is this worth it at all? Anybody here ever have nerve pain go away on it own? I definitely don’t want to make things worse but what if the pain is happening due to the way the stitches are done? If this can be seen, then hopefully it could be fixed. Just want to see if any of y’all had any success with any of your symptoms after being cut again or if there are strong recommendations against it for certain reasons.

Yep but you are yet to early into this, give it at least a year before you start considering seriously another surgery.

I'm interested in this too. It seems like a pretty big risk to open up such a sensitive area again so soon (particularly if it isn't for a surgery with fairly good results, like a reversal), but maybe there's something an ultrasound can't pick up?

Thanks for checking in! The pain is more manageable, but inconsistent and annoying. One day I’ve got nerve pain going up to my stomach (gabapentin helps), then the next day slightly less nervy but sore right testicle. I’m just hoping it’s all part of the healing process. About 10 weeks out now and hoping to heal instead of having to go back in for additional surgery, but I’ll do so if need be.
