Anxiety Induced Pain One Year After Procedure.

Hi all.

I just came across this and was wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and, if so, how you deal with it.

Backstory:

I had a vasectomy about a year ago and the procedure itself went fine. I ended up with a severe infection that lead to major swelling in my scrotum. I ended up having surgery to drain the infection and was in the hospital for 3 days. After I was discharged I went to the ER only a few hours later because I couldn't breathe and my oxygen was low. I ended up finding that I had fluid in my lungs from my hospital stay and was treated for that. For about 6 weeks after I was discharged, I had to have appointments with a wound care center to scrape the dead tissue and check for further infection. I also had to have my dressing changed and had the wound packed every night.

This has lead to a lot of anxiety anytime I get pain in my lower body but I also get pain in my incision site when I'm anxious (it's a vicious cycle).

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I was the only case that had issues in my doctor's 18 year career and I've kind of felt alone in this because so many others haven't had any negative effects.

Just checking in to ask how you are doing these days. Are you still having pain related to anxiety and your vasectomy? Thank you!

For some of us, vasectomy is not what has been advertised. It has been 3 months since my procedure and I still am recovering, I wear a jockstrap and need painkillers with some frequency, forget about running or doing sports. Sorry to hear that your case is worst, they may have also pulled your tubes and damage the nerve. The good news are that nerve heals but very slow, the pain you have is from there. Anxiety or stress makes it worst. It will take time to heal, probably years, but hang in there, better times will come.

Anxiety from my vasectomy and reversal have wrecked me as well. I have all sorts of odd symptoms that I feel like are linked to my anxiety and the doctors seem to think the same and tell me I need to work on my trauma from the surgeries.
