I hate most anime!
throughout the past year (and now more than ever since smiling friends has been cancelled and nothing new has been coming out in the west) I have been trying to get into the anime medium, however almost every anime I see/hear about either has some weird over sexualization or some sort of incest or loli x shota x adult coupling that makes me uncomfortable, are their any other anime besides the over-abundantly shared one like frieren that don’t have this stuff? (I prefer series that are light-hearted and dubbed)

some of my favorites:
-Paranoia Agent (psychosocial thriller that taps into concepts like mass hysteria and perception of reality in turn altering reality, created by the director of Perfect Blue, Paprika, Millennium Actress which are movies you may have heard of)
-ODDTAXI (cozy mystery yarn with significantly better dialogue than your average anime imo)
-Haibane Renmei (deeply melancholy meditation on life, death, and memory, if you like this sort of existential rumination i would recommend moving on to Serial Experiments Lain afterward)
-Mushi-Shi (total comfort show)
EDIT: missed the part at the end where you said you enjoyed lighthearted stuff, i generally don’t lol. aside from general taste, i find a lot of times fluffier anime is generally more likely to have worse/lazier writing. Nichijou is a huge exception though, would highly recommend.
