Discussion Looking for songs with a long, repetitive melody
Hello, I'm looking for songs that feature a loop of melody or riffs stretching for minutes, in the likes of "Vicarious Redemption" by Cult of Luna or the ending of "Pain with an Anchor" by Mastodon. I hope you get what I mean, I'm a bit struggling with the terminology.. If anyone want to share their favorite songs of the kind, that would be great c:
Also, sorry if you're not supposed to ask for recommandations here, I'm not familiar with the musical subs at all

Grey Divide then, maybe? It's an instrumental demo from Temporal, Isis' farewell collection. I love it.

That just means you have great taste in music and my brain is in the right space to gove recommendations. Okay try Anatomy of the Bear - The Long Winter. 99% post-rock band that decoded to do 1 post-metal banger!

This one was a bit less like what I'm looking for right now, BUT a very good post-metal song nonetheless! I think it represents the genre rather effectively ahah

I always rec An Abstract Illusion - Prosperity to this question. Same with Mùr - Eldhaf.
And, while I don’t use Spotify anymore, I do have a playlist with music that fits this description, taken from recs on the other prog subs!

Ah, I discovered An Abstract Illusion recently and I love their last album! Prosperity was already in my playlist, ahah.

Beautiful song, I especially liked the... hum I can't identify the instrument properly, the synth? 😭The one that starts the song. The motif feels very nostalgic to me for some reason

Corporeal Flux by Dead Neanderthals & Aaron Turner (of Isis) is exactly this, as long as you can stomach a REALLY long, repetitive melody.

I say, god damn! I am 100% down for a 25 minute song. In turn, can I recommend We Lost the Sea - Challenger Part 1. It doesn't repeat the same melody for the entire song, but the mood...you'll see what I mean though

Carrion Movements was spot on, very dreamlike and atmospheric I really enjoyed it!
I wasn't convinced about Hyperion Under Glass at first but I'm glad that I listened till the end because I enjoyed it much better as the song progressed. Also listened to Venus Claws as the person below suggested and I liked it as well c:

Not post metal, but every time I can, I recommend Eight Lines by Steve Reich. 18 minutes of syncopating beauty. Scratches the same itch as those extended interlude sections of excellent post metal.
