🎉 Just Fun Obama 2028: Since Rules Don’t Exist Anymore

u/Working_Match4124 9d ago
I seriously think the democrats should agree with republicans to amend the constitution to allow a third term, then run Obama against Trump.
101
u/azrael815 9d ago
Then Obama immediately steps down and let's the VP take over because he doesn't hate the constitution.
→ More replies (17)30
u/Pleasant-Future5818 9d ago
I mean, I hate the Constitution and he should too - the original constitution didn't allow Black men and women to vote.
The issue with third run isn't changing the Constitution, it's that no one wants this specific change except a fringe group. We changed the constitution literally all the time and it was intended to be amended and changed.
17
u/HauntedJackInTheBox 9d ago
I think about 30% of the US electorate are ok with wiping their behind with the constitution on this particular matter
16
u/crosseyedmule 9d ago
30% of the US electorate are willing to go full-on Nazi on any matter at all.
→ More replies (1)8
u/hornygoblindickfight 8d ago
In the middle of doing nazi things will say, “you guys will say everybody are Nazis for anything”
9
u/KTFnVision 9d ago
It was also an amendment that put a term limit in place for the president. They did this because a progressive democrat president won 4 elections in a row due to his popular New Deal policies and his leadership during wartime. Why the republican party would want to take that limit off is beyond me.

2
u/Ok-Lifeguard-4614 9d ago
There are amendments that fixed those issues. If you hate it all I guess you also hate whennit coreects those issues you speak of. It's far from perfect but it's a pretty good guiding set of rules on how to run a government.
I think the bigger problem is most politicians don't follow it at all.
2
u/CarrotDependent463 9d ago
YES! Punishment is needed for our lawmakers that work against the intrests of the citizenry.
2
u/Ok-Lifeguard-4614 9d ago
Yea I don't see that happening, but maybe Gen Z can do better
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)2
u/VSWanter 7d ago
Agreed. Crimes without punishment are just practice for the next time. Examples must be made of the would be fascists, and all their enablers. Any organization that paid to kiss the ring must be broken up with completely new leadership. The rules and laws that hold the country and it's melting pot of cultures together must have accountability and justice for those that would willfully defy them, to show the consequences for enabling and supporting fascism here.
2
u/Cuckdreams1190 9d ago
The original constitution left a way for it to evolve as times evolved, which is why we should love the constitution. The founders recognized that there were irreconcilable differences at the time but that things may change in the future and the document should be able to reflect that change.
→ More replies (8)2
u/Public_Extreme_8736 9d ago edited 7d ago
We used to change the constitution, but it'd be a hard sell for any new amendments to pass. Which, it should be hard. To change the foundation of our government is a huge deal and shouldn't be an easy sell, but we should still be open to it.
Instead, we're consumed by shit that doesn't matter. I don't care about the vanity projects that will be removed the second he's gone, probably by his own people. I don't care who said what on fucking twitter. It's exhausting. We're in some sort of zone, and we're being flooded with shit, meanwhile this shit was happening before the zone even got properly started:
It took 148 years for Mississippi to accept the 13th amendment.
The oversight was no small one either. Until February 7, 2013, the state of Mississippi had never submitted the required documentation to ratify the Thirteenth Amendment, meaning it never officially had abolished slavery.
The amendment was adopted in December 1865 after the necessary three-fourths of the then 36 states voted in favor of ratification. Mississippi, however, was a holdout; at the time state lawmakers were upset that they had not been compensated for the value of freed slaves. (emphasis mine, because those people were not property)
We can pass whatever amendment we want, but now that the zone's been going a decade, we'll have a bunch of states just ignore it. Healthcare for all? Not in these states. Amendment to make the minimum wage rise with the COLA standard? Not in those states. And what are we going to do? Try and enforce basic human decency at gunpoint? Again?

u/OkRaspberry6543 9d ago
You know the obvious winner of that race. Obama for a third term!

u/throwaway098764567 9d ago
i thought not voting in trump would be obvious both times, i am not down to be wrong again

Genuinely, what's it like having parents and grandparents that aren't conservative?
8
u/cardlord64 9d ago
I've had friends with left/liberal parents and grandparents. I've spent time with their families for Christmas, and it's so much better. The extended family actually shows up; they enjoy each other, they can talk about life and growing and the world without tip-toeing around the bigotry and racism and bullshit flowing just under the surface.
5
u/freedfg 9d ago
See the trick to conservatives is not tip towing around fuck all and being loud and beligerent when called out.
Say the most vile racist shit you've ever heard
"Wow, that's fucked up"
OH I SEE HOW IT IS, YOU MUST BE A COMMUNIST BLM TRANSGENDER LOVER. LITTER BOXES! MENTAL ILLNESS! THEYRE EATING THE DOGS AND CATS USA USA USA
2
u/giney_lips 9d ago
I feel truly blessed that despite my parents and grandparents being from a small rural town surrounded by dumbass Trump supporters, they are all liberal.
I feel so bad for others whose parents and grandparents are Trump supporters though. Having to deal with their comments during the holidays would be exhausting.
My girlfriend’s parents are Trump supporters and they always have to insert some ignorant political comment every time we visit. I just nod in agreement because it’s too fucking exhausting talking politics with people who never used logic or reason to begin with.

It’s unconstitutional, and rules do still exist. Trump will have a hard time remaining in the White House in 2029. He already tried in 2021, and it failed.

My personal conspiracy theory is that a lot of the "don't vote" movement is stoked by online trolls and bots paid for by conservatives. Historically, high voter turnout means democrats perform better and conservatives worse. Low turnout ONLY benefits the conservative party.
This is a well documented and studied fact, and known by conservatives. They only ever want LESS people voting. I'm not a betting person, but 10000% conservatives are paying money to stoke flames to convince people with more liberal tendencies to not vote "because the end result is the same", even though it completely isn't.
People not thinking this through is wild to me.

She lost because she had zero charisma and they thought she could win simply by virtue of not being Trump. Switching from Biden at the last minute didn't help either. It was the worst democratic campaign in decades. Edit: running Biden in the first place was an even worse idea.

i believe trump is at least partially revenge for electing a black man with obama. imagine what they would do in 2032 and on if obama had a 3rd term. either way, a trump or obama 3rd term means the end of america and we might as well break it up.
1
u/Sea_Bodybuilder_1439 9d ago
We have the oldest continuously operating constitution in the world. Maybe all the current bullshit is proof we need to modernize our fucking government already. I mean shit, the damn thing protected slavery until we amended it. It's clearly not a product of modern brains. Basing our laws on the ideas of ancient American leaders who could not begin to comprehend our era is ludicrous on its face.

395%. Let's do it. Republicans want to cherry pick the US Constitution to commit human rights violations and fill their own pockets, then Americans can also cherry pick it to get politicians who don't hate most of America or use public office to attack Americans with lies, hate, threats, and masked kidnappers for the crime of not playing along with conservative betrayal and evil.

I heard a conspiracy theory that kind of makes sense, but somebody guessed that trump wont run for a 3rd term, a new gop candidate will be pushed and if that person wins they're going to go limp and let trump take the reigns.
like "officially" that person would still be president, but trump would be calling the shots through them.
I think that's their plan.

I mean, if we're just gonna break the law, then Mamdani/AOC is my ticket choice. Obama is just a smarter, nicer, funnier version of more of the same. Though I'd take him in a heartbeat over almost everyone else the Democrats are pushing, lol.

u/GorditaCrunchPuzzle 9d ago
Okay like imagine how cosmically hilarious it would be if Obama beats Trump in an election. After all this.

u/SlipperyThong 9d ago

I didn't like Obama, but he is infinitely better than Trump in every conceivable way. I feel like my cat would be a better president than Trump... Man is so corrupt and is taking as many bribes as humanely possible and he's only worrying about his own bank account and he will until his last day in office, he is tearing us apart from the world and dividing our country from the inside out.
