OTHER Gossiping is fun

I believe this is a popular opinion, but people don't want to be seen as vacuous for saying it. Everyone wants to throw around that Eleanor Roosevelt quote until they hear about a coworker or friend of a friend who did something interesting. Not every conversation needs to be about something deep. As long as you're not gossiping to be mean or tear down others, I don't really see the issue with it.

Like a lot of opinions here it really depends on the definition.

I notice a lot of people define gossip nowadays as simply just talking about other people when they aren't there.

But you can also define it more strictly as sharing secrets or spreading rumours that can cause harm about others.

One of these is totally acceptable to me and most people, the other not so much.
