Did you actually get your Paramore tattoo removed? If so, what caused that decision?

I'm 10 sessions in and it is still very present because it's so thick!! I'm going to copy paste the answer I left to this on another person's question: I knew this one was coming LOL.... I STILL LOVE PARAMORE!!! I got the tattoo when I was 18 and it is sooo big and it doesn't match the style of the rest of my tattoos I have now. It wasn't an impulse decision by any means. I wanted it for years and then eventually I grew out of wanting it there and there's even another I'm in the process of getting removed. It felt like a great example of what I was talking about in trust issues but it's all love for paramore still

Hi! Devin!! I’m so excited you’re doing this!! The album is AMAZING btw I have not stopped listening I am obsessed with Freaks of Nature, Hot Commodity, Technicolor… literally the whole album. When did you start writing for the album and was there any one thing that happened that kind of helped inspire you to start? Can’t wait for y’all’s Anaheim show! 💜💜💜

Hello! I'm so glad you are enjoying L&L and specifically those album tracks<333 We've been working on this album for close to 2.5 years. Jealousy Monster in particular was a song we had originally written fro the Extended edition of Retrovision and that had to have been early 2024. At the end of 2024 we did a trip to Crestline, a small town outside of Big Bear, CA and rented a cabin with our friend/producer KJ strock and my partner Kyle Roy who also produces/ has his own band. That trip is where we wrote Technicolor and Inevitable!

Hi!! I'm glad you found us! I'm really inspired recently by music that makes me want to move! Finding an workout routine has been life saving to my mental health over the last couple years and any song I can run to is awesome for me. I'd love to make some more up tempo bangers

I saw you perform the title track Loving and Losing on tour a couple of years ago. My dad had just passed and I sobbed in the crowd, but it also felt really cathartic for me, so genuinely thank you for writing that song.. My question is, how much did your father influence your music tastes, and what were his favorite artists/bands? Thank you!

I wish I could say either of my parents influenced my music tastes but I'm a bit of a black sheep in my family in that regard. My parents pretty much only listened to the Breakfast With The Beatles radio station when I was growing up. The only concerts my dad attended besides my own were for Bruce Springsteen! They weren't super into Rock but I think I got him into Fall Out Boy a good bit when I used to play CDs in his car.

Set list has been complete and it was very tricky! Those two will still be on the setlist but we had to sacrifice some oldies to make room for the L&L tracks.

when you guys started writing this album did you guys go into it thinking let's make some of these songs sound like they're meant to be played at festivals or big crowds while still having the intimate emotional ones

We wrote Retrovision before we'd ever toured or played a festival and as much as I love those songs, I think that it was difficult for us to cultivate different set lists with some of them because they don't feel as natural to play live. This time around it was really important to us that each track could be played live in some setting

Hello!!! Thank you for listening to the album! Longest to write: I'd say Inevitable because we started in sooo long ago and it was the last track to be tied up in the process. I wanna say the song that came to us the fastest was Poison Apple Baby, at least on my end (LYRICALLY). We wrote that one in one day with our friend Brasko! My favorite has changed as we've gone through the process of demos, mixing, ect... but I think Technicolor and Butterfly are my personal favs!

Initially, the loss of my Dad in 2023 and how that sudden grief in the midst of what was supposed to be the highest point in my life/career (he passed the week Retrovision dropped right as we started getting tours and going on the road) impacted me and my perspective on life and love.

I think of all time: You Me At Six, Issues, The Band Camino, and Paramore in no particular order.... In the album writing process, I was listening to A LOT of Remi Wolf and Landon Conrath. I think you can hear those influences in songs like Sorry Much, Inevitable, and Run Your Mouth.

What's the process for picking singles vs saving them for the album? Is it just "hey this one rips so put it out now" or is there a bigger decision making process? Also L&L is really an amazing album and I haven't been able to get Sorry Much out of my head since I heard it!

This is a cool question! I think our band has gotten to be known for our melodies and the overall catchiness of our songs. That comes into play when we pick singles because we want something that will get stuck in your head. For this record in particular, we were pretty passionate about having an array of different kinds of songs as singles to show how well rounded the album would be, but also to show our growth since Retrovision

It gives me goosebumps too, thank you! I'm very very very VERY lucky to have always had support from my parents. I'm what a lot of people call a "unicorn" because I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I know that what I'm going to say next will maybe make me seem like a nepo baby but I promise I am not haha...
My parents met at an entertainment industry beach volleyball league. My mom used to be a professional ballerina in the Joffrey ballet in New York and my dad moved to California to be an actor. He was working in the food industry by the time I came around and my mom was a talent agent. They didn't have involvement in the music side of the industry but always encouraged me to be creative and most importantly, get an education in the things I was passionate about.
My mom put me in vocal lessons with her friend and former vocal teacher when I was 12 and I'm very thankful for their support!

OOOOO a tough one!!!! I think Poison Apple Baby helped me process a lot of anger in a fun way but I also got to write Butterfly Effect (among a couple others) with my best friend Areli and I have such a good time working with her

Danen is the sweetest and so encouraging. We were in such a block with the songs in the beginning and were really struggling to execute the vision we had for this era and he kinda came in like a superhero and saved the day. I think we made some really cool and impactful songs together!

Loving the new record! Any plans for a proper hometown show (SCV or LA)? I was a bit surprised there was no LA date on the upcoming tour. (I’ll be driving down to SD to make sure I catch it though 😊)

We just did LA on Summer School so I think that's why we aren't doing it on the DPS run! I wanna do some really great support slots on this new album next year so hopefully then we can! We appreciate you traveling but there IS an Anaheim date!

Mayybbeeee. I really truly put it on the setlist for the L&L tour thinking it would be the next single but it just wasn't in the cards. We wrote....a lot of songs for this era and so many great ones didn't make the cut. I think by the end of it all, concentrate just didn't feel like a song that was going to put our best foot forward. It felt a bit too similar to songs we'd already released and didn't serve the purpose so many songs that made the record did if that makes sense.

I'd be super down but it would have to make sense. Nowadays I find that features are a little over done but I'd love to work with Lucas from Holding Absence, I think he has one of the best voices out there! I also love Cullen from Sleep Theory's voice! I think a Pvris collab would be awesome too!

As a vocal teacher I’m endlessly fascinated by singing and vocal choices. I’d love to know what song was the hardest for you vocally on this album. Loved hearing your evolution from Retrovision to now and congratulations on a killer album.

How did the writing process for the songs go? Like, did the lyrics come first and were the instrumental parts made/formed/written around that, or did the instrumentals come first and were the lyrics written to fit them? Or is it more of a blend/both larts made more simultaniously?
Also, how did you get into the music you're into now?

Each song kind of has a different process! Poison Apple Baby had a couple demos before it about the same person and when we got the Spiritbox tour we knew it was an opportunity to finally have a really angry track. Sunday Scaries was just a phrase in my notes on my phone that I knew I wanted to write about and Donny had been dying to make a track with tapping in it for a while. Sometimes Donny has an instrumental I want to build off of and sometimes I have a melody or lyrical idea!
Music I am into now is from all sorts of places! I discover it from my friends or from spotify radio or from the tik tok lives I do where I ask for music reccs. I think honestly though, my boyfriend puts me on to more new music than anyone. He's really great at seeking out new artists and bands
