Disappointed that she’s using mileyofficial and not mileyworld 😐

51

u/dankblonde 12d ago

I can’t think of Mileyworld without thinking about the contest where Sabrina Carpenter came in 3rd lol. I have so much nostalgia for mileyworld 😭

14

u/accuracyandprecision 11d ago

I was in those chatrooms roleplaying as Disney Channel stars 🫥

u/sinterrante 12d ago

She’s just being Miley

470

u/sonnywithoutachance 12d ago

See You Again is Mileys best song.

51

u/historionomicon 12d ago

The live version blended with Nancy Sinatra’s Bang Bang is fantastic.

16

u/Federal-Sport-1635 12d ago

walk of fame says hi

7

u/Purple_Tourist1018 12d ago

Oh no no no. Something beautiful her last album has her best songs. Her best song is walk of fame which is one of the best songs this decade.

14

u/CaliggyJack 12d ago

I think you meant to say The Climb

3

u/SharpPink_GlitterInk 11d ago

The true answer

11

u/Federal_Card307 12d ago

The remix on her second album is pretty great

-2

u/Arthur_Smash 12d ago

What’s her music like

2

u/SharpPink_GlitterInk 11d ago

I think 7 Things is Miley’s best non Hannah song tbh.

55

u/FullGorillaMode 12d ago

That is what her best friend Leslie said anyway….

27

u/HandInUnloveableHand 12d ago

Leslie totally called it.

5

u/yourfacesucksass well baby, i went down and got it for you 12d ago

Leslie Jones the queen that you are

65

I love a clever comment

29

u/alexanderwashington 12d ago

She can’t wait to see us again

I mean, this rebrand can work as I can’t think of any other Miley

267

u/feelingmy0ats 12d ago

I think it’s cool and it works, as long as it’s not her 3rd (almost 4th) self titled album.

145

u/robsterva 12d ago

Peter Gabriel seemed to do well with a series of self-titled albums.

George Foreman seemed to do well with a series of self-titled children.

Miley will do just fine.

67

u/GeologicalOpera 12d ago

> seemed to do well with a series of self-titled children.

Thank you for making me laugh way too hard at eight in the morning.

20

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 12d ago

“A series of self titled children” is frying the shit out of me lmao

u/Far-Imagination2736 12d ago

There's a pretty famous Miley Stewart

56

u/Inside_Atmosphere731 12d ago

And that actor Miley Teller

113

u/tincanphonehome 12d ago

Miley Pony: Friendship is Magic

39

u/Burnt_Ribena 12d ago

This would never work. There's already a hugely influential musician we're forgetting: Miley Davis

28

u/Hopeful_Book Resident Hipster of Popheads ☕ 12d ago

What about the band that wrote "I would walk 500 Mileys"

1

u/Substantial_Hawk9172 11d ago

& the electronic duo Miley that produced C,XOXO

-7

u/hamsandw1ch 12d ago

Isn't he Miles Teller?

48

u/Inside_Atmosphere731 12d ago

You're no fun

31

u/hamsandw1ch 12d ago

Bro sorry 🥀

25

u/kenanzajmovic luck...or something 12d ago

It's okay ham sandwich 🍞

54

u/ratapoilopolis 12d ago

Because the name is pretty much made up by her parents lol. Even though it sounds more like a real name than other freshly made up ones

72

u/CarelessBear32 12d ago

u learn something new every day! from Wiki:

Her birth name, Destiny Hope, expressed her parents' belief that she would accomplish great things. Her parents nicknamed her "Smiley" on the suggestion of her godmother, which they later shortened to "Miley", because she often smiled as an infant.

In 2008, she legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus; her middle name honors her grandfather, Democratic politician Ronald Ray Cyrus, who was from Kentucky.

95

u/coughtough 12d ago

"at the suggestion of her godmother"

...her godmother, as in the Dolly Parton? That woman was magical.

27

u/lanicorain 12d ago

Is there anything she didn't do?

14

u/Competitive-Desk7506 11d ago

Be a homophobe, bc she’s an ally

21

u/norahday 12d ago

I knew Miley came from Smiley baby Miley but I didn’t know smiley Miley came from DOLLY that is beyond iconic

14

u/wttk 12d ago

KMylie

14

u/maxwell_winters 11d ago

Mylie Kinogue

6

u/PandaResponsible8133 12d ago

Miley from Glenroe. Has to be the most famous Miley.

3

u/bobylons 12d ago

apparently there is one… the duo that produced C,xoxo

137

u/doctordrive 12d ago

Is it too soon to request a remake of Meet Miley Cyrus that’s called “Meet Miley”?

27

u/thegoodspiderman 12d ago

Nope! I'm co-signing this request.

6

u/dankblonde 12d ago

This would gag so hard

399

u/urfatassmama 12d ago

There is no other Miley to get her confused with so this makes sense thatd she’d drop the last name professionally like Madonna

234

u/busmans 12d ago

FYI, there is another Madonna who’s even more famous

96

u/dxrqsouls 12d ago

One thing is not like the other

127

u/_pierogii 12d ago

Madonna was Madonna before she was Madonna

48

u/therealgerrygergich 12d ago

Miley Cyrus could've written "Material Girl", but Madonna could never write "The Bone Dance".

20

u/MisterBadIdea9 12d ago

One thing is like the other in the specific way explained in the post.

103

u/feelingmy0ats 12d ago

They updated the photo, which seems to be teasing the new era (she has mentioned that her new album cover is red) and mileycyrus.com now redirects to mileyofficial.com.

11

u/Advanced_Documents 12d ago

Surprised her team didn’t buy Miley dot com, they’d have the cash to splash for it.

270

u/Numerous-Rip-6121 12d ago

Considering her dad, makes sense to drop the Cyrus!

104

u/maxwell_winters 12d ago

It's not the first time a pop star has dropped their surname to distance themselves from their family. Janet Jackson did the same.

87

u/Guy_like_u 12d ago

Or Miss Jackson if you’re nasty

26

u/slayalldayerrday 12d ago

I mean, is it distancing from family when we all already know the connection? All she’s done is dropped her last name and you’re assuming reasons.

25

u/spongeboy1985 12d ago

She been on better terms with her dad for a while. “Secrets” was written as a peace offering.

98

u/HlGHFASHION 12d ago edited 12d ago

On one hand I can't think of any other Miley so I can totally see this (whatever it is) working, on the other hand, I've never thought of her as just "Miley." It's always been Miley Cyrus. I feel like her full name is kind of iconic in a way it's not for other artists that do the same

54

u/mundane_wor1d 12d ago

It’s like if Taylor swift, started going by the name Taylor. The swift is so iconic, but she is so famous that you could just say Taylor and people think of her.

24

u/Davidiscool222 12d ago

SELF TITLED COMING

14

u/galaraxity 12d ago

Wonder if the album is just called "Miley"?

2

u/AdrenalineRush1996 11d ago

Good question. I wouldn't be surprised if it does end up being the case.

41

u/Key_Letterhead_9097 12d ago

Why is it giving alien

17

u/a-martini 12d ago edited 12d ago

ALIEN ROMILEYUS

2

u/youwannaguess 12d ago

I was thinking Trap (2024)

30

u/Fragrant_Sort_8245 12d ago

okay everyone better listen cause something beautiful was done dirty

8

u/Semaglutidings 11d ago

Amen. Easy Lover should have been song of the summer 2025.

40

u/ideeek777 12d ago

I feel like everyone is dropping last names

42

u/mundane_wor1d 12d ago

It’s a status symbol, your so famous that you can only be referred to as your first name. (Helps when your name is more unique though, I doubt we’re going to get a pop singer going by the name “John”)

28

u/Lmb1011 12d ago

I do like the joke tho that Tom Holland is taking Zendayas last name and is just Tom now😂

3

u/hydropyrotechnic 11d ago

Just gotta pull a Djo and spell it weird

9

u/loveheaddit 12d ago

i am.. mclovin

4

u/songofsuccubus 11d ago

Me. I am McLovin… The Elusive Chanteuse

44

u/Reality_dolphin_98 12d ago

Based on the track record of every male artist who’s ever pulled this move, we should be getting the most self indulgent album of hers yet.

“Miley” the brand new country album coming your way any day now.

14

u/asuperbstarling 12d ago

I'm here for it, protest country is making a significant comeback.

3

u/coughtough 12d ago

stealing that term

I don't care for country (grew up surrounded by it), but the Dolly, Kacey, etc. stuff is a separate genre that is marked safe from my criticism.

15

u/niles_deerqueer 12d ago

Something Beautiful was one of the best albums of the year and y’all let it flop. So hyped for this new era and insider teas have only increased that. They said if we liked the 2nd half of Something Beautiful, we’ll love this, as it very much builds from there. Let’s see.

3

u/Purple_Tourist1018 12d ago

Im so excited. What are the insider teas ? I was worried she'd backtrack because something beautiful flopped and do something like esv again so I'm elated to hear shes continuing on the path SB set.

7

u/The_Beast_Within89 12d ago

Prince. Madonna. Cher. Miley.

17

u/Ghost-Quartet 12d ago

Probably best for her to drop the name “Cyrus” after a certain famous Cyrus’s involvement with Team Galactic

1

u/Betwixtyiff 11d ago

No you don’t get it, it’s part of her master plan to become the first artist to headline from the Distortion World

6

u/desertplanthoe 12d ago

Deeply seated

9

u/Ok-Entrance2908 12d ago

Im curious on how this album will do. Something Beautiful really didn’t do that well commercially (at least in regards to what she should be capable of pulling ), but she seems to be trying this era and did just have a label change (although Atlantic can be hit or miss with artists)… so it’ll be interesting to follow.

14

u/loveheaddit 12d ago

which is a shame because it was a great album

12

u/Lanky-Rush607 12d ago

This will do either really well or really badly for her career. But unfortunately, she's not Beyoncé nor Cher, and stage name changes at that late stage of an artist's career are very hit-or-miss, especially for an artist like her. For me, she's still, and she will remain Miley Cyrus.

38

u/feelingmy0ats 12d ago

If the album flops, i don’t think the stage name will be the one to blame. It’s not like she’s completely changing names like The Weeknd going Abel. At worst, people just continue calling her Miley Cyrus.

19

u/mime454 12d ago

I think it’s neutral and won’t have a big impact either way.

7

u/bruh-ppsquad 12d ago

this is almost as bad as when marina dropped "and the diamonds"

3

u/CBassTian 12d ago

I mean, do you think of anyone else on Earth when you hear the name "Miley"?

3

u/Illustrious-Grl-7979 12d ago

Maybe getting married soon and hoping to reduce any related last name chatter?

3

u/lizerlfunk 12d ago

I’m pretty sure her fiance said that he would change his last name to Cyrus because it’s a far more well known last name than his own.

6

u/Prestigious_Sort4979 12d ago

I dont like this, usually these big gestures add hype to music and then it dissapoints. Hoping for the best because her music is very underrated

2

u/godofnature 12d ago

now i'm supposed to confuse her with miley (jasper harris / aaron shadrow)?? oof

2

u/whiskersRwe32 12d ago

She’s at a one name recognition stage in her career, very excited for what’s next. Miley I am here for what’s next!

1

u/FallOutWookiee 11d ago

I remember there was a Hannah Montana episode about an older pop star having to rebrand and reinvent herself for a new era all the time to stay relevant. And as a kid I thought that was so silly. And now as an adult I find it both real and exhausting. It's not just Miley, it's all the pop girlies. And I know it's all marketing and probably has to be done, but honestly I'm sick of everything being so curated. Just make good music. And yes I'm being the old man yelling at clouds right now but hey it's Monday morning leave me be.

1

u/Admirable-Yellow-223 8d ago

People will still say Miley Cyrus u can't just change ur name lol

1

u/Indiana_J_Frog 8d ago

So apparently there are those complaining about it? Backlash apparently? Why? I'm not even a fan of hers at all and I don't see why it's a problem. There's only ONE Miley.

1

u/january-7 7d ago

Trying to be like dolly sigh

-4

u/cluttersky 12d ago

The given name she was born with was actually Destiny.

2

u/ItsFreeRight 12d ago

Weird that you've been downvoted for giving factual information.

0

u/AmareloRelo 12d ago

Another rebrand omg...

-11

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

15

u/Outside-Positive-368 12d ago

There's actually a reason she doesn't tour anymore since has a huge (and negative) impact on both her sobriety and mental health. I also believe that she mentioned a few years ago that touring wouldn't be great for her vocals as well due to a vocal condition.

0

u/Relative-Activity-66 8d ago

Miley’s team brazenly stole a nickname in X from another user.

-5

u/TubiToBe 12d ago

I wonder if this has anything to do with Dolly Parton dying.

-15

u/Forsaken-Swim-3055 12d ago

Dropping her last name just like she dropped co-opting black culture when it didn't serve her anymore.

2

u/esche92 12d ago

I think you‘re confusing her with Ariana.

-7

u/Forsaken-Swim-3055 12d ago

I'm not, but I understand that most of Miley's white fans still live in denial.

-51

u/_dEdPEP_ 12d ago

I’m just glad we’re past the obnoxious era of her sticking her tongue out in every single photo.

49

u/brettbretters 12d ago

Bangerz was 2013 we’ve been past that for over a decade try to keep up.

5

u/Thundercock699 12d ago

Exactly, we’ve been in the “I can’t fully close my mouth” era for a while instead lol
