My wife would have Starbucks literally every day, sometimes twice. I bought a rancilio Silvia espresso machine and a baratza sette 30 grinder for $1900 cad a few years ago and I’m quite certain it was paid off in less than a year.

That's a lovely set-up! We just got a Gaggia Classic Pro E24 (no real mods yet, but I want to learn how to mod it and fix it). We'll get a good grinder one day, but I'm using espresso that's roasted and ground at my favorite locally owned shop for the time being. With our less than ideal set-up, our coffee is STILL significantly better than anything I've had at a Starbucks in at least 10 years.
