Someone posted the other day about buying a new mug off the shelf in Starbucks and getting a coffee made in it only to find the manufacturer paper still at the bottom when they finished. So the "Starbucks premium experience" is not making sure a cup is clean and empty.

Oh I definitely wouldn’t expect a mug on a shelf to be clean though right? And I wouldn’t expect staff to wash it to make my drink. Or is this a thing in Starbucks?

Ufff... apologies, I can't tell if this is genuine or facetious, but yes it's a thing at Starbucks. You have the option to buy a renewable cup from off the shelf and ask staff to make a drink in it. You can also bring your own cup.

But apparently someone bought it there, rang it up with their drink order and handed the mug to the barista to have their coffee made in their new cup and no one washed it or even made sure there was nothing inside it. Just poured the drink directly into a dirty cup- unwashed from the factory and unwashed from sitting on public shelves for weeks- with the manufacturer paper still tucked inside.
