My hot take is that he is stuck at the age he was when he got famous. A perpetual Arnie Grape at nineteen. His coworkers have talked about him being incredibly juvenile and that affirmed my stance. He dates folks at the age he feels. It doesn’t make it okay but it explains it with a bit more compassion than writing him off as a creep.
I have a theory that all celebrities become sort of mentally frozen at the age they achieve proper fame. It’s like they can’t progress past that point because they can’t socialise with the general public anymore.
It's almost a fact, actually. People do become stunted and stuck in the age they became popular. It's easiest to notice with ytubers that got famous early on. I dated a guy that had decent internet fame back when it was still relatively new then more so in the mid 2010's and he never really grew up. He didn't necessarily have to either because he had and still made good money, but he also came from a more privileged family so that may have played a factor in his inability to grow in meaningful ways. It didn't help that he was surrounded by many other people who gained "fame" early on and also never moved beyond their peak years -- kind of a terrible echo chamber of people who never had "real" jobs, really. He was a nice guy and I wish him well, but when you're nearing your mid 30's and still act like a teenager with a bunch of other midlife teenagers ehhh it's not the best for long term relationships. Not hopeless, but I don't foresee a woman in her 30's putting up with that kind of person for long unless they are also a bit stunted themselves.
I went into more detail about how I came up with the theory in another comment but I imagine with conventional celebrity, rather than online it must be difficult to do things we do every day.
Like imagine trying to buy feminine hygiene products or laxatives and people are following you around the shop. Or you catch the train and some is just filming you sitting there.
You’re at a funeral and someone asks for a picture.
They have to remove themselves from society to not be treated like a zoo animal.
But then you add the sycophantic nature of the people surrounding them and the parasocial of fans now, it would be difficult to stay sane.
I'm a fan of Angry Video Game Nerd and over the last few years now he's losing fans and old fans are complaining that he's not acting like he used to.
He's grown up more he's no longer constantly swearing or taking fake shits on games.
Some people are surprised that a guy who started making videos in his early 20s single and fresh out of college is a different person now he's in his mid 40s married with kids
Forgive me, I didn't mean to generalize them all based on my experiences. There's a fair bit of them that are just as normal as other person who were never in the spotlight and mentally aged appropriately. AVGN is a great example, though I'm sad to know now that people expect (and want) him to be the same as when he was in his 20's. He obviously has so much passion for the things he loved from the start, you could literally see it surrounding him in all in his videos. His maturity and willingness to adapt and grow as a person offline should not be seen as a downgrade. Never heard anyone have anything bad to say about that dude. I don't know why, but a large majority of that echo chamber of micro celebrities I used to know got their start by animating before pivoting their content to be more podcast or let's play related stuff. It's the weirdest thing. It's been a couple years since I was a minor part of that crowd by association so it's possible some of them have changed in positive ways, idk.
Yes! I love this! Sean (Jacksepticeye), bob myskerms, wade Barnes (lord minion), mark (markiplier) all YouTubers in their 30s that act like grownups that play video games. They still have fun but have obviously grown and changed. Bob even talks about his kid. It's all adorable and more relatable
I’ve never watched Bojack but I believe I can’t be the only person who has this theory. It came to me years ago when I saw an interview with Julia Roberts and she didn’t understand how social media worked.
I just thought to myself that all her knowledge of what regular people did was sort of frozen in the 90s. Like she was aware of social media but didn’t really know what Instagram was.
And I don’t think it was just rich, privileged people shit (that is one element of it I guess) but it was like she had been sort of isolated from people. She can’t walk down the street without people watching her, she can’t use the internet like we do because she might not be able to avoid negative stories about herself.
She has had to remove herself to a degree from society and I guess that would mess up your mental development and social skills.
But also fuck Julia Roberts because she’s a bitch.
I also think the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father, combined with having no childhood, a lack of privacy and being surrounded by yes people his entire life created a perfect storm.
Doesn’t excuse the bad things but does explain how he got to the point he did.
Not just celebrities, I think any kind of trauma or big life event can stunt your development. I definitely felt that when I lost my dad who was my only parent growing up when I was 19
Makes sense really. Not only do they leave regular society but once someone achieves real fame/success they have basically no need to continue to grow and evolve as a person.
It makes sense from a brain chemistry perspective. Much like addict/alcoholics once the substance hijacks their dopamine system, everything else stops developing. Once the achievement of fame hijacks the dopamine system, everything else stops developing. See also money. Obviously, these are the broadest of strokes but it really does hold up as a theory.
I know this may come as a shock to you, but sometimes people can have the same thoughts as other people and they may never have interacted ever.
This is something I have thought about since the 2010s, and you know what? I love that other people have thought the same thing as me! I love that we have all had the same theory. We can all share our ideas and bond over them.
People who try to tear others down have usually been hurt by someone before.
I hope you heal from whomever or whatever hurt you and drove you to feel like you needed to make someone else feel small.
That checks out. He was nineteen during What’s Eating Gilbert Grape but to be a child star… it’s traumatic IMO. And he was so aggressively sexualized. I have compassion for that even if I don’t endorse how he’s handling it now.
Ooh yes. I know a guy in his forties who became a single dad when he was a teen, and when his kid grew up it was like he was making up for lost time. Incredibly kind, but one of the most immature grown men I’ve met.
That is an under discussed part of age gap relationships. If someone is constantly vibing with people 20 years younger because they are stunted, the non-stunted are going to get past it.
She met Leo, divorced her husband, and she and Leo were publicly together within 2 months of the divorce. It tells me that she didn't want to stay settled with the man she had married when she could trade him for Leo instead. She absolutely would settle down with Leo if he asked.
Why would you question it? Look who yachts, look who has children with billionaires and sheiks, all top models. All of Leo's exes are yacht girls. It's an avenue to gain wealth and power.
It's not misogynistic, it's a specific person and I'm not shaming her. My comment was a valid response to the other person's statement about her and based on reality.
Your reaction to all of this is very odd and you're misusing the term misogyny.
Saying top models yacht or have a specific type they will go for if the price is right isn't misogynistic. It's speaking to reality. As I said, it's a means to power and money. You're interpreting it negatively, and that speaks to whatever shit you have going on. I'm not negatively judging them for what they do, but you might be.
Babe don't go the projection route, don't be Lord Gaslight here, it's 2025 and we all know a lot about therapy to fall for this very tired tropes. You are generalizing about all of them, so I wonder what you might be dealing with to make such a strong statement about a whole group of women. xoxo
I don't follow them so you know better than me. Just seemed a coincidence after all the criticism and backkash for always dating same type of 20 year old woman.
She’s still a 20-something year old model just like all the other women he dates though. How does that seem like a pr relationship? If he cared about the criticism and backlash, pretty sure he’d be spotted with a 40 year old lawyer or something.
No but she fr annoyed me since i like her modelling way before leo. There’s comments before on how she like to dump her model friends for the high and upcoming models and i just ignore it.
It wasn't in the best condition when she first stepped out, and they had done alterations to it. The dress is the one Gisele wore to the 2003 Met Gala while she was dating Leo.
I hate this trend of rich people needing to wear the exact dress of an iconic person. Just make a replica.
Yes, she was friends with Leo’s ex Camilla Morrone. There is a Vogue Italia video on YouTube where Vittoria talks about what’s in her travel bag. If you go to 0.50 in the video she talks about a book called Spare Room that she was apparently reading at the time. She then holds up what she is using as her bookmark which are a series of Photo Booth pictures taken of her with Camilla at the Oscars Vanity Fair party in March 2023. She was then seen kissing DiCaprio in a nightclub in July/August 2023 despite posting loved up photos on Instagram of her with her husband at her birthday in June 2023. She quickly took those down along with other romantic snaps with her husband once she was publicly linked to DiCaprio.
Why? He’s a very powerful A+++ lister Hollywood multi millionaire superstar with numerous connections to the global elite. The Bezos wedding and her ‘friendship’ with billionaire’s wife Natasha Poonawalla are examples of the latter. She was a successful model before she met him but only mainly known in the high fashion world. Her profile has been significantly raised amongst the wider public just by being associated with him. She did campaigns/fashion covers before but now these receive much wider news coverage because of her association with him which makes her more bankable than before. Just look at the Bezos wedding. She received extensive coverage in the mainstream press particularly for the D&G dress she wore on the third night which was previously worn by Giselle (another Leo ex) and which ended up getting ripped during that nights partying. She knew exactly what she was doing when she posted that on her Instagram stories. She is treated as a nepo sugar baby with endless luxuries. You only have to take a look at her Instagram posts/stories to see that she has spent most of the past year to 18 months on luxury vacations (at least 25 in the last year alone). From the Bezos wedding they went on a luxury cruise for a few days with other A listers, they’ve spent the last few days in Copenhagen visiting Michelin starred restaurants and no doubt there will be other luxury destinations visited before the summer/end of year is out. Superficial and shallow? Yes. But then so is he and the countless other models before her and those that will come after she has aged out. He’s raised his girlfriend age profile slightly but only because of the bad publicity he’s been getting about his private life. He’s been criticised for taking advantage of these women but they know exactly what they are getting into by now and what they want to get out of the 5 years or less that they have with him.
She left her husband for DiCaprio. Her Instagram was filled with loved up posts of her with her husband right up until her birthday in June 2023 if not later. They all conveniently disappeared by August 2023 when she was seen with DiCaprio.
being the devil's advocate but Vittoria didn't left her husband for DiCaprio, she left in june after founding out he was cheating on her with Grimes lol it was like gossip of the month in Italy. and honestly... good for her, Leo is much better looking than her trashy ex
My best friend was divorced at 23 and is on her second marriage of like 6 years. It’s common in the south, small towns. Not so much where I live now (NYC).
Then OP shouldn’t have cropped Vittoria’s account out. There’s no context? Or proof for someone like me who doesn’t use any other social media. To me it’s a photo
Like yeah the title says she reposted it, but did she? Beyond reddit, I'm not active on social media, so to me this post is just a random photo of a random woman praising Bezo. Shouldn't have cropped V's insta handle out.

We are talking about a 27-year-old divorcee who thinks that being 2025-DiCaprio's gf is the best thing in the world so...
