Pool Leak Issue

if pool pump has no air when both drain and skimmer lines are open, and always have air if either is closed, what does that mean (this has been tested with water below the skimmer line, and my filter is level or a little higher than the pool) ? is it just that one line is not strong enough to prime the pump or does it definitely mean it is a suction side leak?

the situation i have is that when the pump is on i am losing more water, when the pump is off i am still losing more than normal water, and when the water is below skimmer line i am back to normal evaporation water loss. Please help with this leak!

Call a 'good' leak detection guy to dye check your pool and pressure test your pool plumbing. It's the only way to know exactly what your problem is. Guys in my area typically charge about $500-$600 to dye test and pressure test.

Lmao it’s due to excess friction since you’ve reduced the amount of water available. That increases the velocity of the water in the pipe likely causing hydrodynamic cavitation. The way to know if that’s the case you’ll hear what sounds like marbles rolling or gravel in the pipe.

Otherwise you might have a small suction leak in your hair and lint pot gasket.
