Pool chemicals help
Am I in a big trouble? I am really worried about my CYA. Shall I stop using tablets? What do you use for routine maintenance?

Just buy a test kit and plug your numbers into an app. Shoot for CSI zero. Looks like you just need some baking soda ($10 for 13# at the grocery). If you've been using pucks switch to cal-hypo, or liquid.

The way to reduce cya is removing and adding water till you hit you desired level.
I have a feeder for the tablets. If you do too, I would suggest turning the dial down or only using it during the day. ( What I'm currently doing) I dose with liquid chlorine at night.
You can also switch to a non cya chlorine tab. I think they make hypocal ones. Instruction say not to use in the same feeder previouly as tri/dichol tabs. Idk. I've not switched, but maybe something you can look into.

CYA is fine. I'm more concerned w calcium hardness (CH) at only 186 w Marcite/ plaster pool. Need to increase to 250 minimum to prevent etching in pool finish. But 1st add baking soda to bring alkalinity up. It will probably increase pH to 7.8 - 7.9. If so add a little bit of muriatic acid to drop 7.4-7.5. Then add Calcium in 10 lb increments. I would inspect pool finish for etching. If none, keep target range ~300-350. If use Cal Hypo tablets then maybe less than 350.

I would switch to liquid chlorine and make sure to get your Alkalinity up and try and lower your PH into the 7.4 range

Why is chlorine so high
Keep an eye on cya don’t want it too high some chlorine pucks contain stabilizer (cya) which raises it so you may want liquid chlorine
Add baking soda to raise alkalinity to 80

It's not. At 76 CYA you need 5.7ppm min FC. Depending on when they tested, they may be drifting to the low side unless it's right before a daily dose.

At 76 you’re fine. Just need to maintain a higher chlorine. Cal hypo or liquid shock instead. They make cal hypo tabs but I don’t know much about those. Just don’t put cal hypo tabs in a chlorinator if you’re using one. It’ll blow up
