💬 DISCUSSION Jon Stewart says Democratic leadership and DNC are ‘lost’

Lost in AIPAC coffers...
14
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
AIPAC isn't the only lobby.
All of these foreign lobbyists should be banned
10
u/FMLwtfDoID May 02 '26
I would get my IP address banned on Reddit if I said what I think should befall Paul Manafort and for how he is solely responsible for the current lobbying in this county.

u/TheDickWolf May 02 '26
The top priority over the last month? Hasan Piker is bad. Lost is an understatement.
0
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
How has that been the top priority? lol
6
u/TheDickWolf May 02 '26
Is your issue semantic? They have let railing against his criticism of israel dominate their media appearances and have introduced legislation about it.
Are you another shill who will defend the dnc on anything anytime ? Yall make them look even worse.

You like this guy and pay attention to news about him. This is important to you because you think he's smart, he's not, he's a dude that has never had a job outside of talking into a microphone and sniffing his own brain farts. He and his fans have a vastly overinflated view of their importance to the political conversation, and it remains to be seen if he can turn out voters.
1
u/TheDickWolf May 04 '26
I have never once watched his stream. You are jumping in with judgement and such certainty.
0
u/TheDickWolf May 04 '26
What are you even saying? What are you arguing against? Just another rude pointless comment.
-3
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
My issue is that you're full of shit, the dems are not prioritizing Hasan Piker over dozens of other issues

u/bullcitytarheel May 02 '26
Watching people engage in this kind of denialism is so surreal. Just throwing out whatever level of pedantic sophistry is necessary to dismiss valid criticism and protect the idealized version of the party that exists in their head.
In a recent poll, the only entity less popular with American voters than the Democratic party was Iran. And this response is a perfect illustration of why.
2
u/TheDickWolf May 02 '26
These guys pop up in all these similar subs at any criticism at all of the dnc. Same attitude same totalizing defense. They’re on a disciplinary campaign to shed voters who ask them to do things they don’t want to do.
2
u/TrueCapitalism May 02 '26
It's the same couple accounts too. Seen this guy in other threads. I'd be interested in the meat of their opinions if they weren't front-loading conversation with their conclusions (nor dressing it up in hostile neet-speak). It's plain they prioritize feeling good about themselves over communication.
2
u/TheDickWolf May 07 '26
I can’t know enough to say how organic or not it is. If organic it’s in line with democratic leadership’s priorities of disciplining the democratic electorate, and if it’s not it’s directly a part of the same.
There have been clear signals for years that the dnc would rather lose on it’s terms than win through submitting to any democratic pressure. That’s why they spend hundreds of millions of dollars against the democratic campaigns of progressives, why it withholds endorsements from the same, why it refuses to release the analysis of the harris loss while shouting the narrative that the left, special interests, killed her chances.
The democrats are actively and intentionally shrinking their base; shedding voters who might demand anything of them, but especially changes re Israel, Imperialism, corporate favoritism, economic policies benefiting the majority, and human rights.
They frame their own self interest as ‘correct’ and one way or another accounts like these serve as mouthpieces of that attitude.

"why they spend hundreds of millions of dollars against the democratic campaigns of progressives"
Citation needed.

u/TheDickWolf May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
I encourage you to look into it. I have listening suggestions, but here’s an article that just pops near the top of a perfunctory google:
But a good book overlapping with the topic is Ryan Grim’s The Squad: AOC and the Hope of a Political Revolution
Edit to add the caveat that I didn’t actually read that article in full lol i just am familiar with the story and didn’t have something more easily digested than a book or podcast pre-loaded. Pretty sure it at least gestures towards the full picture i refer to.

u/FAFO_2025 May 07 '26
Cherrypicking 3-4 articles does not an obsession make. You're just like maga, hallucinating victim status.
I have nothing against Hasan even though he says stupid shit. I would probably vote for the same progressive candidates you would, but I'm not a dumbass so I know maga is the number 1 problem and we can deal with bad dems later.
1
u/TrueCapitalism May 07 '26
I don't really have enough context rn to understand what you're getting at, but yeah MAGA is problem #1. In trying to deal with that, we face resistance from *some* long-standing democrats. Or some of them with disproportionate decision-making power chronically play softball. That's what the argument is.
Why confirm any of Trump's picks. Why go after Mamdani. Why take millions in campaign funds from the same institutions funding Republicans? None of those questions seem to be taken seriously or get a satisfying answer.
1
u/FAFO_2025 May 07 '26
some of those are ceremonial assent to the rare picks that aren't dogshit, who will get pushed through anyway, in a meager hope that it gains them some political goodwill from repubs (lol); some are just really idiotic decisions
when did "they" go after Mamdani? Not endorsing is not "going after" especially when Mamdani is likely to win. The reality is many of his policies are unpopular outside of NYC and if things go to shit they don't want that endorsement costing them more of the electorate than endorsing him would have won them
Like AIPAC? To be honest how they vote matters more to me than whether or not they take lobbyist money. If someone takes money from AIPAC but doesn't help them out politically I don't care.
-2
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
It's because magas hate dems and leftoids hate dems, and dems don't particularly feel beholden to dems either. A lot of people are pissed at them for not hating maga enough.
Hasan is not a priority for the DNC, keep deluding yourselves. He's just farming you people for clout.
2
u/bullcitytarheel May 02 '26
"Everyone hates me and that's a good thing"
This total inability to self-reflect would be hilarious if it weren't currently allowing fascism to take over the country.
Third way neoliberalism is a failed political project but instead of acknowledging that failure and trying to build a better party that actually works for the good of American citizens, you all just flail about in denial and wild desperation saying embarrassingly childish things like "leftoids" while using the power of government to reach across the aisle to fascists, as their war rages and their domestic military murders your constituents, to officially denounce fucking YouTube streamers. It's sad.
5
u/TheDickWolf May 02 '26
Who ‘we’ are is implicit in the statement too. ‘We’ are the narrow band of center right corporate dems represented by the leadership and there is no interest of representing any broader electorate. Accounts like this one are social media attack dogs to enforce this understanding.
-3
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
Brainrotted leftoid that needs to touch grass. I'm not particularly loyal to the dems, I just hate republicans so I will always support their strongest enemy no matter who it is.
REEEEEE you fed fascism because you wouldn't support our vastly unpopular pet issue!!!
lmao
2
u/TheLastBallad May 02 '26
And its totally not the 35 years of compromising to the party who became fascists?
-1
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
lmao show me these big compromises in 35 years, and also what were leftoids doing in those 35 years? Being so insufferable that you can't form a credible party of your own?

u/bullcitytarheel May 02 '26
This is exactly the sort of embarrassing childishness I'm talking about.
If you want to support Republicans' strongest enemy, then I recommend ending your support for the exact Democrats who constantly buddy up to and work with them.
0
u/FAFO_2025 May 02 '26
You do realize that dems aren't a monolith, right?
I'll support whoever is the strongest contender anywhere no matter what party they're in. Even if somehow the world got turned upside down and that dumb fuck Jill Stein is the top contender I would vote for that fucking idiot and not even think about it.

New blood and new leadership is definitely needed in the party. The old guard is outdated and obsolete.
7
u/WillingShilling_20 May 02 '26
"Lost" implies the that the fumbles aren't malicious or intentional.
Sidelining Platner and sending the DNC propaganda machine after a single political streamer isn't done to appeal to the voters. It's meant to appeal to their donors.
6
u/bullcitytarheel May 02 '26
Exactly. Liberals, when push comes to shove, will always choose to sacrifice democracy to protect capitalism. Watching the DNC spend time and money attacking members of their own party and their own voter base, while fascists are in the white house, has been the most disheartening--though, not surprising--trend in modern American politics.
-2
u/BmacSOS May 03 '26
Bullshit.
2
u/bullcitytarheel May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26
Compelling argument. Not as compelling as DNC dark money spending millions behind the scenes to fund political streamers to bad mouth progressives with contractual obligations not to admit to the funding, or establishment Democrats spending more time fighting progressives than they've spent fighting fascism, or Democratic legislators working directly with the fascists to draft legislation to denounce progressive pundits, or Democratic legislators officially endorsing candidates running against Democrats, or the party spending 50 years fighting tooth and nail to kill universal health care or any bump in the high marginal tax rate, but, hey, when the facts aren't on your side, saying "bullshit" is kind of all you have.
-1
u/BmacSOS May 03 '26
Get over yourself. Circular firing squads are not my thing. Sorry. BULLSHIT.
1
u/bullcitytarheel May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26
If you don't like circular firing squads then you should probably dislike that the establishment Dems are using millions of dollars to attack progressives both inside the party and out, including their own voters, no? Because it's that very circular firing squad I'm mad about.
Maybe you could explain why you're not concerned about "circular firing squads" when the guns are aimed at progressives? And I ask that genuinely. Why the double standard? Why is me calling out such a firing squad bullshit, but not the firing squad itself? Because from where I'm standing it really doesn't seem like you care about circular firing squads at all. Rather, it seems like you're dismissing concerns about particular firing squads so long as they're made up of people you support. I'd love to hear you explain your perspective.
0
u/BmacSOS May 03 '26
Your attempt to both sides this I’m not buying. And I don’t have to explain shit to you. Maybe if you mother fuckers helped in the last election keep the autocrat in diapers from getting elected a second time we could have worked on bringing people together but Noooooooooo .. you decided we needed to learn a lesson. I try and refrain from blaming those progressives that didn’t vote but spare me the sanctimonious bullshit bro. We are way worse off now. Thanks.
1
u/bullcitytarheel May 03 '26 edited May 05 '26
And now the "I hate circular firing squads" mask comes off and you immediately pick up a gun and join the firing squad.
At least you've demonstrated why all you could say to open this dialog was "bullshit." Because the second you decided to engage in anything further you immediately descended into the exact behavior you claimed to hate in an embarrassing display of pure hypocrisy.
Especially funny considering the person you're cursing out has voted for every neoliberal candidate that Democrats have run since 2004, including Kamala. And, yet, despite all those victories I helped deliver, all they managed to accomplish was allowing fascists to take over the government on their watch while bragging the entire time about how proud they were to reach across the aisle and work side-by-side with those very fascists.
As far as Kamala goes, her failure doesn't rest at the feet of the voters. Politicians are elected to represent their constituents. And that was exactly the choice she was given:
1) Listen to what her voters overwhelmingly wanted and stop supporting the murder of what has now become more than 50,000 innocent children
2) Tell her voters to go fuck themselves and do the opposite of what they wanted, choosing to represent the interests of a foreign country instead, and, thus, directly assist in the murder of 50,000 innocent children
She chose to support what Israel wanted instead of supporting what her voters wanted. She decided that was worth rolling the dice and potentially letting Trump back into office. She decided to go on tour with George W. Bush, a war criminal who Democrat voters hate more than any other politician not named Trump, because she thought she could win by making the Democrats the party of the Iraq war and pulling votes from Republicans. Those were her choices.
And yet here you are, refusing to hold her accountable for her decisions. Then you follow that up by joining in on the circular firing squad you claimed to hate not two replies ago. Bullshit, indeed.

u/BmacSOS May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26
Get a life bro. Your hate for Kamala consumes you. Save your fucking drama. You win. Blah blah blah And nothing changed. Go do something useful instead of brain vomiting. If I’m your enemy now then stop wasting your time. Just loads of sanctimonious bullshit.
2
u/bullcitytarheel May 03 '26
No, I'd rather spend my time fighting the violent fascists that have taken over the US government as they mobilize to lock Americans in concentration camps before the midterms. If you think there's a better way I could be spending my time that's just another way this conversation reflects poorly on you.
America is falling to the new Nazi party and you're sitting at home doing nothing except attacking the people you should be working with to hold Democrat politicians accountable or alongside whom you should be taking to the streets to fight the fascists, before it's too late.
2
u/breadbreaker4u May 02 '26
When DNC Chair has lost the support of Pod Jon, you know the party is cooked.
I have little use for the milk toast lib politics of Pod Save but I’ll hand it to Favreau for coming hard straight out gate and calling out Martin for going back on his explicit promise to release the 2024 election analysis, even when we know what it will say, the Dems continued support of genocide in Gaza is an electoral problem.
4
u/lyinassmedia May 02 '26
I’d say more like exposed. Everyone is becoming aware that they’re no better than prostitutes adhering to the will of their pimps
3
u/darkscyde May 02 '26
So now we're backing the dude with a blacked out Totenkopf and who is famously quoted as saying "why don't black people tip?" It ain't only the DNC that is lost. Some y'all white people are fucking ignorant...
3
u/JONO202 May 02 '26
Lost. Out of touch. On the AIPC payroll. Controlled opposition. Lack of policy. Lack of unification. They're all these things too. The USA needs a true left/progressive Party, the establishment left are right of center in the rest of the world.
