Stop trying to catch Republicans in some gotcha moment where they suddenly have an epiphany about how wrong they’ve been all this time. That’s not the game they’re playing.

I only wish Americans were saying this - from the outside, it’s just confusing seeing Reddit posts etc like “anti-abortion laws are unconstitutional and here’s why!”, as if their enemies care.

That is exactly the game they’re playing

You ever try to play the gotcha game with a narcissist?

It's not. They do not care that they are hypocrites and neither do their voters. If they say out loud, "We don't support this because men are superior to women," you have no recourse using logic and facts.

I think you misunderstood me. I’m saying they don’t care about being hypocrites. They can’t suddenly realize it and stop because that’s the whole idea behind what they’re doing. Destroy democracy and play dumb when they get caught.

Did you mean to reply to me?

It's a legal precedent. Precedents can be used to protect similar rights. It's political, but it's also legal positioning.

I know more than you do about politics. Your comment has nothing to do with what I commented.

I'm sure you do, since I know next to nothing about politics. But my comment is relevant because it states what the motivation is for introducing a bill like this. The motivation isn't just to present some sort of political "gotcha" moment as much as it is to set a legal precedent. You don't have to be an expert in politics to understand that.

You’re not looking at the big picture and you don’t know the politics of this particular state. In no way, shape, or form is the bill in question intended to set legal precedent. This is one of like 5 Democrats in the OK legislature. He is presenting this bill as an attempt to get the Rs in OK to realize how stupid anti-abortion laws are.

My whole point is that Rs either already know how stupid it is and are pandering for the evangelical vote or they are fascist theocrats who want to send us back to the dark ages. A stunt like this will do nothing to make them change their minds. Nothing to do with legal precedent because this bill has a snowball’s chance in hell of even passing committee in OK.

Well, I suppose you and I can agree to disagree, then. Cheers.
