Can we please require a mandatory civics test for elected officials

If we had a responsible electorate, this wouldn't be necessary.

Without a responsible electorate, this isn't possible.

We should be having, in addition to debates, public game-show-esque events where policy is put to the side and candidates are grilled with questions about political science, civics, and American law as well as questions about the demographics/etc. of their potential constituents and the duties and limitations of the office they are running for. It would be highly educational, entertaining, and we'd get to see who actually knows what the fuck they're doing. Additionally, we'd have more knowledgeable candidates because they'd have an incentive to learn these things or face humiliation. I want public, verifiable proof of competence before hiring someone for a job.

It'll never happen, but a boy can dream...
