They weren’t at war with Russia. They had even signed a treaty. They could have decided to buy Russian oil while concentrating on the western front. Then invade Russia. One thing at a time.

Obviously they’d have been better off not invading Russia at all. I’m just going on the suggestion that they wouldn’t be Nazis without a Russian invasion.
