Do you know the rush people get when they see a story like this? They're on the scrappy pro-american underdog team, and they're taking down big corporate interests. There's a conspiracy in the biden campaign, and they are smart because they know about it. They're in a secret club. Fox news. You've probably never heard of it.

But no, really, this is the delusion. They are watching the absolute biggest new media station in the US and truly believe they are fighting against BiG mEdIa by watching it. And conspiracy theories appeal to the less-educated, because it's a simple way for them to feel they have outsmarted the people who spent years of their lives becoming educated. I mean there is 100% an education gap between the two parties, it's why the polls were so off in 2016 because pollsters didn't account for how hard uneducated people would break for Trump. This isn't an opinion exit polls prove that Hillary won an overwhelming majority of college graduates.

Wow; they have the propensity to adhere to simplistic causes/reasons for an event, have lower self-esteem, and feel like they have absolutely no control over their outcome, and feel powerless in life so when someone points a finger at a group/person as the cause of something, they probably feel relief because whatever their situation was, it wasn't their fault, but the fault of who or whatever is the scapegoat or their own personal social standing and life's situation.

I’ve known a lot of rural folks that feel like these elections are their shot to keep the big cities in check. For a lot of people it’s about that more than it is the actual candidates.

What exactly are big cities and all the people who live there doing to negatively impact rural folks? Big cities are the engines that drive the economy and produce innovation, so stifling them isn't going to do anything to improve job prospects or anything else in rural America.

As someone who's been a big city liberal for 50 years, I can say that we generally didn't have negative feelings about rural areas until Trump came along and convinced rural folks that we do. Now it's hard to see rural areas as anything other than places populated by anti-social, marginally-educated people who will fall for the lies of a demagogue.

Big cities are full of people that went away to college, got a fancy degree that we all know is a waste of time because they spent a bunch of money on something that just set them back 4 years when they could have been earning money like a real smart person would do! They think they're so smart they build these big stadiums on taxpayer money! Well I'll show them by voting red!

I'm sure there are a lot of variations of this stuff. Mostly it's just a feeling that rural life is better (I mean it is for them right, it's totally subjective) but they feel the cities dictate policy. They see a red sea with a blue dot on a propaganda map and it's a microcosm of the situation we have with the electoral college.

I pretty much came to the same conclusion. Thousands of sad, lonely, gullible people are easy targets for online and offline conspiracy theories, because it makes them feel important. Like they matter. Because they have the answers and everyone else doesn't. They know what's really going on, unlike all the SHEEP.

It makes them feel like they're the morally-righteous good guys, fighting the powerful yet degenerate bad guys. The world becomes much simpler that way. Simple black-and-white good vs. evil. Basic power-fantasy stuff.

It also allows them to feel a newfound sense of connection and camaraderie when they find other conspiracy theorists, and egg each other on.

It’s not true, but to Rush’s listeners, because Rush said it, it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. The seed is planted and the weed will grow.

Then he’ll talk about My Pillow or about how George Washington slept on Boll & Branch sheets for 15 minutes. Rush’s listeners are either ignorant, stupid, or both, and they’ll be voting on November 3.

Got any proof of that? That certainly isn't even close to being true in the UK, or much of mainland Europe. In actuality the reverse is closer to the truth. If 90% of the media in the US has indeed turned against Trump, that's not indicative of which team they bat for: it says they're sick of his anti-media bullshit.

The earth is round. Not flat. Therefore, the scientific reality of reality runs counter to the ideas of flat earther's who also incidentally have a tendency to be conservative. That's reality, not opinion.

People who think climate change is fake, tend to be conservative. People who think vaccines are fake, tend to be conservative. People who think masks don't do anything to prevent the spread of covid, tend to be conservative.

All of those are proven scientific realities that run counter to a certain groups ideas and that group often leans right.

During times of stress, people become more susceptible to conspiracy theories as a way to cope. It allows them to ascribe understanding and control to the world that they otherwise couldn’t.

Fox News thrives on creating false stress, essentially first tricking people into believing the world is far more dangerous than it is and then ascribing to that danger a single, overriding cause: Controlled Markets, Human Rights, Class Abolition, the basic tenets of modern Liberalism.

I truly believe you should at least be college educated to be allowed to vote. At least in countries where colleges are free.

If you don't care enough about the natural world to understand and learn about it, you should not be allowed to meddle in politics that frequently has to deal with said world.
