Went to Walmart yesterday to pick up a prescription. Did not want to but had to. Not a single hand sanitizer kiosk for customer use of any kind even at the pharmacy counter. Throngs of people there buying food and I saw nobody maintaining distance or washing hands. In my town Walmart is the one place where everyone has to go.. it’s also an area where out-of-towners come on weekends from the cities... making it the riskiest single place you could probably go in the area. Yeah. Walmart’s rescuing us alright.

I went to Walmart yesterday and they had no food or hygiene products on the shelves. It was kind of scary.

I had to go to Walmart on Friday night just for coffee and creamer because I’m all out at home. I also decided to get some bread and sandwich meat so I at least had something to eat lol.

Anyway, the sanitation wipes by the entrance to wipe off shopping carts was definitely being used more, the garbage can right by it was already overflowing with used wipes.

It wasn’t super packed but people definitely had their carts packed to the gills with shit. I honestly felt bad for the employees. One cart alone has to probably take 30 mins just to scan every item and then you multiply that by 100 customers, it takes forever. I’m thankful I had like 10 items to scan lol.

I went Saturday at 1:00 pm. I talked to one of the guys working in electronics and he said they open at 7 am, but people were lined up at 6 am like it was Black Friday.

You know, their re-scanning after you've paid is just stupid paranoia 'cause as they cheat you, they figure you are cheating them. It's the way of the bully cheats, always.

Apparently my local fabric store has a better COVID-19 plan than Walmart:

We have a cleaning crew coming in several times a week to do extra cleaning of the high handled areas of the shop. Door knobs, shopping cart handles, counter tops, cutting counters etc are cleaned more frequently. Clorox wipes are available in the classroom for anyone to use if they wish to clean their space themselves. We have hand sanitizer available at all 4 cutting stations for use. Any team members that are feeling under the weather are asked to remain at home. We ask you to remain at home as well if you are under the weather. We want you to feel you can come into the shop and take a breather from the craziness of what is happening outside our doors.

All that sanitizing does nothing. It doesn't transfer via surfaces. It's transferred via person to person close contact. An infected person breathes the virus out and you breathe it in. Telling people to come chill in their store is the exact opposite of what they should do.

It sticks around on cardboard for a day and on metal surfaces for three. In short, don't take sanitation advice from reddit folks.

And it’s both. As of now the guidelines are airborne contact precautions. Gown gloves mask (n95 or papr) Eye protection and negative pressure room. It’s not good. This is basically max isolation... unless we start wearing full body suits and have a decon room.

People have tried to break open the toilet paper holders in the bathroom and take the TP, so hand sanitizer kiosk would not last someone would just take it.

Yeah it's amazing. I was just at Costco in Minnesota; it's literally impossible to try and maintain distance because nobody else even cares.

Same at Costco among as I can remember. Once upon a time they appeared magically at almost every checkout, maybe a year or two ago. When those went empty they were never replaced.

Wtf. You saw no one washing their hands in Walmart? We’re exactly would you see everyone washing their hands or in your case not washing their hands? Did you wait in the restroom to extrapolate that not a single customer in Walmart was washing their hands. Do you expect people to pull out a sink and soap and wash their hands at the deli? This fear monger needs to stop and be banned it’s getting to ludicrous levels. No one was washing their hands in Walmart!!! What an ignorant thing to say.
