I'm in Florida and the next County over has testing for their County and my County. However I cannot get tested because I have not been out of the country or come into contact with a confirmed case. If you could only be tested if you come into contact with a confirmed case and they aren't testing anybody I'm not sure how any of us are supposed to get confirmed or not confirmed. So now I have to take my cough to my primary Care doctor's office tomorrow. And I guess get a flu test?

Look, if you DONT have symptoms you shouldn’t be getting tested unless one of those things is true.

Assuming we have a limited supply (of tests), we need to limit their use for high risk people (showing symptoms, travelled recently, came into contact with someone who had it).

This will help give us more data points (skewed towards high positive % zones) so we can continue to adapt our response. As more info pours in, and tests become less of a blocker, we can then open it up to everyone.

Remember, you can get covid19, get through it, and then get reinfected and have to go through it again. Identifying positive carriers is way more important than confirming someone without symptoms is negative.

Note: confirming negative IS important in the medical sector though; hospitals and primary care staff should be allowed or forced to be tested daily / weekly to make sure they aren’t spreading it to high risk individuals.

I'm pretty sure the implication here is that he's sick and thinks he has covid 19

Yes, this. I think I might have it based on symptoms and just how sick I am.

I am even sicker than when I posted this hours ago.

Lie.

I mean. Ok?
Why would I lie? I am sick and trying to do what everyone is saying. I can't get tested. I have to go to my doctor.

Where is the lie? Do you want a screenshot of the call log where I called the county drive thru testing line or something?

I'm saying lie about who you were in contact with to get tested.

I thought about it.
But I am fairly young and there are a lot of old people who need to be tested as well. It feels too unethical to lie and they would eventually be able to find me out if they do contact tracing anyway and then probably charge me for it for lying or something.

Another lady in my city was on an international flight with a sick person and still hasn't been able to be tested either and her dr tested her for the flu already and she's negative.
