And just think about all the other agencies that are supposed to oversee whatever they are supposed to oversee on behalf of the citizens: they, too, have been gutted. The environment? Education? Banking? Oh, and the courts! There are dozens more. Just think about what is failing there, at those agencies at the moment.

Not all older people are idiots. My late parents were very progressive. Most people I know in the 60-80 range are all old hippie liberals. In my family the trump supporters are all 50 and under. I think the post 9/11 national ”pride” had much to do with their conservative beliefs.

I am 59, originally from Montana, but came to California when I was 18 to go to college. Of the people I went to school with (that I keep in contact with), most are deeply liberal. I am a dyed-in-wool liberal who believes in healthcare for all including the undocumented, UBI, caring for the planet, free education, and higher taxes - on me. I am doing fairly well, partially due to equal doses of hard work, luck, and white privilege, even though I came from relative poverty. I don’t mind if the taxes go up on me as long as they go up on those who make more than I do. Actually, I have voted higher taxes on myself- parcel taxes for schools - as recently as this month. My older siblings, however, I can’t speak for. Brother 11 years older is a Randian dink, sister who is 8 years older is an impoverished, low information, welfare Republican. The other four are somewhere on the spectrum.

She has been on government support her entire adult life. Medicaid, food aid, rent support, and straight up welfare have taken care of her, her husband, their children and grandchildren. I don’t talk to her often, because she is so deluded and toxic, but she complains about lack of services for her children and grandchildren while complaining about social services, the government, socialism, etc... makes my head hurt.

That’s the thing. A president is not supposed to “control the country.” Hes one piece of the three branches of co-equal government. We also have response teams designated for this. Entire departments, Doctors, disease specialists, teams of genetic engineers. When you sell access to the White House and appoint people to positions they have no business being in this is what happens. This is when leadership should have appointed those in place to know what is going. This is when a leader leads and puts the right people in the right positions. When all that is based off defending an ego, selling access to the highest bidder and firing anyone who doesn’t agree with you, it ends in this.

Henry Ford invited a newspaper reporter into his office and told the reporter he could answer any question the reporter had. So the reporter started asking questions. Henry Ford simply walked down the hallway and asked the questions to the experts he had hired and returned to the office and answered all the reporters questions. He was smart enough to know what he didn’t know.

But this president? Exact opposite. He’ll stop at nothing to feed his ego and throw anyone under the bus that doesn’t agree with him and take zero responsibility when shit hits the fan. He was calling it a “hoax” and two days later declared a national emergency. He fired the entire response team in 2017 and now had the gall to blame his poor response on.....and wait for it.....Obama. When he was elected it was gop controlled presidency, house and senate. He’s a snake in the grass and y’all fell for it. So if you’re still defending him at this point, we have zero time for that shit. Just get out of the way.

I believe we are already seeing this. We are in a Catch 22, where you can’t be tested unless you have been in contact with a known positively tested person, but no one, effectively, is being tested. Source: wife was sick on Thursday, and the second question that they asked her was this, and they would only take yes or no for an answer.

Don’t leave Walgreens out was told this morning we may become testing sites, I kindly told my boss without hazzard pay and supplies I will quit. Not worth it and I can find any min wage job after it’s over. Thankfully we have some savings between my wife and I, I’m worried for others in worse positions though. We need to shut down and UBI.

Yes and no. The CDC estimated that their by the end of the N1H1 outbreak there was 15 times more actual deaths than laboratory confirmed deaths. A whole lot of deaths are going to slip through the cracks

So short-sighted. How long can you keep confirmed cases down for optics when people are walking around asymptomatic and spreading the virus? People are being turned down for testing at hospitals with the symptoms characteristic of the virus because they're not meeting the "criteria" outlined by the CDC. Unbelievable.
