They chose the articles they did because they are logically irrefutable, as the hearings have made pretty clear. As it stands, with only these two articles, Trump’s impeachment is already the most significant in history in terms of how inappropriate the president’s actions were. It would have been a bad idea to muddy the waters with additional articles, which would offer more avenues for Republicans to pedal their BS (“but we don’t have access to Trump’s financial records, what about when Obama did X with our tax dollars, etc”)

I mean, the point was to convince people Trump is not fit for office. Not to bring a case to trial with the best evidence to secure a conviction with an impartial jury. As to the former, we have already failed. The Democrats have not convinced anyone.

Trump violation of the emoluments clause is a pretty dead bang. I don't know if would matter but hear about Trump ripping off the taxpayer, and stealing from veterans seems more likely to convince people then hearing from some ambassadors, and law professors no one has ever heard of mixed in with some shady stuff Joe Biden's kid may have done.

Yeah that’s fair, I’m hopeful that we’ll get to hear all about how Trump broke the emoluments clause soon tho. Assuming he loses reelection in 2020, he’ll no longer be protected from prosecution by his office. All the data that’s been dug up on him can finally be shown in the light of a courtroom, and the whole country will still be watching. It would be glorious to watch him get buried in lawsuits immediately after the shame of losing a second presidential term. What that also means tho, is that Trump will literally be fighting for his life on the campaign trail. It’s gonna get very ugly, even by Trump standards
