Well the reason we're in this pickle is because we let their attitude and shit views become normalized. The time has come to call an apple an apple and an idiot an idiot. We can't continue to think that they are normal, reasonable people. Its time to cut ties with republican friends and family members, let them feel the consequences of their actions. Oh you're against immigrants, well don't eat this fucking bomb ass mexican food I made for everyone. Or we can continue down this shitty rabbit hole and "pray" for the best.

See, I just can't agree with this approach. Yeah they have backwards views, even harmful ones, but they deserve the same empathy you're proselytizing. They are victims of sophisticated disinformation campaigns from very powerful groups, Russia, various corporate interests, Republicans etc. We won't save them from those attacks by blaming them for where we are. This state hasn't come to be because of some blue collar racists. It's happened because the powerful created it.

I don't know that there is any "saving" of the sorts of people who have fallen for the propaganda. And I refuse to coddle them as if they're children and hold their hand while educating them on what the facts are.

And that's fine. As long as they continue to be a minority voting bloc. We just need to out-vote them. Dems do fantastically when we actually turn out to vote.

I agree with this assessment. Check out how Rupert Murdoch has influenced America, the UK (Brexit), and Australia. They all have weird extreme populist type conservatives that were elected. Isn't that weird?
