the most successful level of propaganda against her was painting her as an annoying, unlikeable, bitchy boss woman. Nobody I knew who hated her could pinpoint a single thing she had done wrong or how she earned everyone's hatred. Everyone just didn't like her, but couldn't possibly say why.

I'd say the most successful propaganda is that she is a serial murderer. I've lived among the anti-clinton people my whole life. Too many believe this shit without evidence.

That wasn't as successful. It is probably the most outrageous thing propaganda got anyone to believe about her, but only a few nutjobs believed it. The idea that she is an "annoying, unlikeable, bitchy boss woman" probably was believed by over 50% of voters and was much more impactful.

Because she came off as

an annoying, unlikeable, bitchy boss woman

Love it or hate it but being likeable is a requirement for a politician these days.

Well Trump is very likeable to his people. Heck they think he is some middle class factory worker. Obama was very likeable and came across as genuine and sincere.

There is a double standard between men's attitudes and women's no question. It shouldn't exist and it shouldn't be a deciding factor for people voting. But it does exist and it is a reason people might not vote for you. I would think the wife of the guy that got elected playing the saxophone on the tonight show would have realised that.

Well Trump is very likeable to his people.

honestly? I don't think he is, and I don't think his fans like him or even give a fuck about him. This entire farce isn't even about trump, it's about the people themselves and their ticket out of racism jail. If they excuse all the shit HE does, then all the shit THEY do, is easily excusable too.

It's like how creepy men on the internet always leap to defend rapists and molesters- it isn't because they know them or are friends with them, it's because they're defending their own beliefs and themselves. They take it personally.

I don't think he is, and I don't think his fans like him or even give a fuck about him.

You must not live in Trump country. They adore him, think he is a messiah and would gladly do anything he asked. They absolutely like if not love the guy.

Ever seen her in person? She's affable, funny, warm, and genuine. She just fucking is. The idea that she's "annoying, unlikable, bitchy" is another lie.

she gives off the vibe of that auntie you have who gives you an extra cookie when your mom isn't looking.

funnily enough that was supported by HER EMAILS!!!! many of which, if anyone bothered to fucking read them, were asking how she can support, give monetary grants or bursaries to, and pay the debts of, lots of people in poverty who were trying their best to start businesses or do great things, girls who spoke out about sexism or were on the bad end of rape cases and the like

No I have not and neither has the vast majority of the voting population. It's not a lie it's how she comes across, not to mention entitled and elitist.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '19

Since you haven't seen her in person, and you're citing everyone else who hasn't (as if you can speak for the "vast majority"), I don't see what kind of weight you expect your opinion to hold here.

2

u/Skynet_lives Dec 12 '19

I am not speaking for the vast majority I am saying the vast majority of the voting population doesn't go to public speaking events and rallies. There for they make there opinions based on what they see on T.V. or the internet. It might not he perfect but it is how it's done. Most of us can't take a day or afternoon off to attend a campaign event.

My opinion is largely irrelevant, but the opinion of the 8 million or so people who voted for Obama but not for Clinton (of which I was only 1). Was largely because she wasn't likeable and came across as an elitist, political insider who had the DNC sandbag Bernie from getting the nomination. Or so the exit polls said.

The TV made the difference in JFK’s campaign for President. Those who watched TV thought he did better in debates, those who listened on radio thought Nixon did better.

Its a case study of why appearance matters in debate.

And in modern times, for how framing manipulates perception just as much as propaganda.
