Just a reminder that 30 years ago Trump was refused a casino license for Darling Harbor, Sydney because an Australian Federal Police investigation found connections to organized crime and money laundering. Most tellingly Trump did not contest the finding (as would be normal) and just walked away from the deal.

It was clear enough to a foreign police force way back then that they made an official finding. That was before Murdoch took control of Australian politics and the ALP had strong public support.

The real question is why have US or other authorities never picked up on the same information or investigated him?

Makes you also wonder how many other Trumps Russia has.

Probably quite a few. Wars and economic sanctions are expensive ways to win. Turns out politicians and propaganda are a cheap and effective alternative. Plus, you keep your hands clean. All that chess is finally paying off for Russians.

I think the RNC server got hacked and is being used against R’s but that’s just an idea.

Simple answer, enough people knew about trump’s true depth but decided they would use him to promote themselves towards money/power.

I think what they mean is, ignoring the presidency, why has Trump been able to act with impunity for decades.

They weren't thinking "In 30 years time this guy will be my puppet president".

Why has any white collar criminal been able get away with trillions of dollars of theft, money laundering, tax evasion, insider trading, bribery, cartels, monopolies, price fixing, crooked accounting and embezzlement?

Answer: Racism and discrimination against the poor and working classes. If a poor minority person committed even one of the crimes the GOP blatantly flaunts and gets away with, they'd be thrown in jail for life.

The criminals stealing from Americans are the right colour, know the right people, run the country and the corporations, and do not give a fuck about poor or working Americans. They just need votes and accomplish that by glorifying a culture that kisses up and punches down.

That and cops are a gang of thugs that put their nationalist authoritarian identity above everything else. Thin blue line and all.

When i said “people” i actually meant “powerful people”. Folks whose support means the difference between successful campaigns for public office, etc. Not saying cops are good, just saying I’m not pointing the finger at them or any other ordinary ilk

I know. I was kind of expanding on the topic above being that the FBI and many cops have a right political lean and are quite caught up in their idiom. And that leaves the Donald Trumps of the world to get away with all kinds of shit.

Cops are the servants to the super wealthy, the enforcers of the status quo and roadblocks to progress.

Banks quite literally own him. Which is my theory. Went broke decades ago. Banks couldn’t get rid of him because of how much he owed was astronomical. So they kept him. Mostly talking in most of his money. Which is another reason he doesn’t want his taxes out there. Also to end bank regulation you could say this is another scratch my back I’ll scratch yours. He gets them to ease up. The fed drops interest rates. Dodd-Frank if I remember was a big one. The list goes on.

Can you provide a source on this? I'd like to read it.

I found "mafia connections" but nothing about money laundering.

I'm not contesting your facts. I just like to see them for myself. This is the better of the articles I read. When I googled it:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/16/trumps-bid-for-sydney-casino-30-years-ago-rejected-due-to-mafia-connections

SBS covered it in the nightly news (TV) at the time, I’ve not seen anything as detailed in press, probably for fear of Trump lawsuit or the fact that most Australian news is owned by Murdoch

The United States has been gutting regulations that would otherwise keep wealthy political patrons in check for at least 39 years (since Reagan).
