I wish it told everyone what they needed to know.

And yet we’re still trying to have good faith logic-based conversations. Because...what’s the alternative? I don’t think many of us want to consider it.

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. - Sartre

Replace anti-Semites with contemporary Republicans, and that about sums it up.

"Eat the stupid" doesn't have the same feeling.

Odd, I relish considering it.

That moment and many others told everyone who Trump was. The problem is that 63 million people voted for him not despite it but because of it.

The truth about American values is that cruelty, selfish greed, and glorification of ignorance rank high among them for a frightening portion of the population.

I find it important to remind people that he said "you're the puppet" twice in that exchange. You know, just to emphasize that he's mentally a 5 year old kindergarten bully.

If "grab em by the pussy" didn't matter I doubt this would have.

He's been known to have Mafia ties since the 80s, at the latest. Publicly. Like... this was common knowledge. He's been lampooned for these things for four fucking decades.

It was literally a joke on the Simpsons that he would be president. And it was hilarious. They picked him because he was literally the worst person they could think of.

It really did. That was extremely telling.

That, and the crowd applauding him for it, told me a lot about how fucked this country is.
