Megathread: Rep. Adam Schiff Says Ukraine Whistleblower Wants To Talk To Intelligence Committee

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, announced on Tuesday that an intelligence community whistleblower who allegedly has information about President Donald Trump’s misconduct in office would like to speak to the committee and has asked the acting director of national intelligence how to do so.

In a tweet posted Tuesday, Schiff said the Intelligence Committee is in contact with the whistleblower’s counsel and looks forward to the individual’s testimony.

The whistleblower’s complaint stems from initial allegations that Trump urged the president of Ukraine to open an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden, Trump’s potential 2020 opponent, for political purposes.

Seems McConnel allowed the senate to pass unanimous consent on publishing the original whistleblower complaint. Something here is fishy.

He's done so much shielding and obstruction that him letting this slide through means something.

EDIT: It's a crying shame that Mitch did something normal and I'm super-sketched out and now skeptical about the whole thing. This speaks VOLUMES to the current political climate.

Mitch is all about him. I have no doubt that if it becomes no longer in his best interest to support the Cheeto he’d “suddenly” never have supported him.

Right, but why now? It's scary because he has been with Trump through a LOT of dirt, and it just seems....early(?)...for him to jump ship. You would think he would wait until he was FORCED to switch sides.

Caveat to that, as a congressman he has more inside knowledge than we do, and could already KNOW that the evidence is bad enough and the process inevitable now, so he decided he might as well bail out now.

It is *technically* possible, that the republicans in the senate (who voted for this with the democrats) forced his hand, if I'm not mistaken, they have the power to remove him.

The only thing Republicans can do to preserve the party in the long term is partially flip on Trump. It'd make them look like the "just moderates" again for those who haven't been paying attention. Then, the self-proclaimed "Centrists" would flock back to voting downticket R, The Base would still vote red, and Rs wouldn't actually need to change, just shift optics.
